The U.S. Embassy in Nouakchott is issuing this Warden Message to call U.S. citizens’ attention to recent events in the north of Mali, and to urge U.S. citizens to exercise heightened awareness and take additional security measures in light of these events.
According to press reporting, on July 22, Mauritanian security forces conducted a raid against an Al-Qaida in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) camp in northern Mali. France has confirmed that it provided some technical assistance. As a result of perceived Western involvement in the raid, it is possible that AQIM will attempt retaliatory attacks against Western targets of opportunity. Accordingly, U.S. citizens should remain vigilant and attempt to maintain as low a profile as possible. Citizens should also review the U.S. Department of State’s Travel Warnings for Mali, Mauritania, and Niger.
Citizens should also review recent Warden Messages issued by the U.S. Embassies in Bamako, Nouakchott, and Ouagadougou.”
It's ironic because GWB was more of a friend to the Left than they will ever admit. Rarely did GWB wield his Veto pen to block the Democrat/Progressive agenda, which we are suffering now.
Had he shown the courage of Reagan on more occasions, defended his conservative principles and stood up to the critics that made him a laughingstock to the majority of the country thereby causing too many Republican Congressional seats to be lost, leaving us defenseless against these Leftist fascists in power, I'd be a lot less critical of him.
And what about GWB telling America that he had to "abandon free market principles in order to save it". Nikita Khrushchev probably had a chuckle at that one from hell.
And another thing, Islam is not a religion of peace by any stretch of the imagination as Bush asserted too often. It is by far the most violent religion on Earth and it threatens the free world. ahhh yeah but it was mostly NATO forces, which is required under the NATO treaty. This Declaration is France getting involved as a Nation not as a NATO obligation and as would seem not just in Afghanistan.

What!!!! You sure don't know you recent history. President Ronald Reagan supported what was known as the Simpson-Mazzoli bill. The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (its official title) was passed by Congress on November November 6, 1986, and President Reagan signed it into law. The chief provision of this Act was to grant the first, and so far only, genuine amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, the overwhelming majority of whom were Mexicans.
People on the Right tend to bitch and moan about President George W. Bush simply because he supported legislation THAT NEVER PASSED. President Reagan, on the other hand, did sign an amnesty bill. It was the reason illegal immigration exploded in the 1990's into the early 2000's. The 1986 Act set the precedent upon which present day supporters of another amnesty take their stand.
Well, Obama's cap-n-tax bill didn't pass. Does that mean we can't bitch and moan about Obama supporting cap-n-tax?
Your question is silly. If cap-n-trade (or whatever it's called) eventually passes, it will be a first. It will set precedent on that particular set of issues. The 1986 immigration act signed by President Reagan was such a precedent-setting law. My point, in case you really are that obtuse, is to contrast the hatred of GWB among some elements of the right (as represented on FR) due to his support of legislation that never passed, to their simultaneous willfully ignoring the fact that President Reagan actually supported and signed a genuine amnesty bill.
If you hate the one for merely supporting a bill that never passed, then you must hate the other more for actually signing an amnesty bill into law. Either that, or be revealed as a hypocrite.
GWB tried to shove amnesty down our throats. Republicans opposed it by 4 to 1. Even a majority of Democrats were against amnesty. His misguided obsession created deep divisions in the GOP ranks.
Do you remember how angry people were in June 2007? His failure to get amnesty passed *does not* negate the fact that he did his damnedest to foist it upon us.
Your point is that, since GWB failed to get amnesty passed, we should all just forget that he even tried to shove that monstrosity upon us. That is stupid.
Using your logic, if Obama had failed to pass his Porkulus bill (*not* a precedent-setting bill by the way, as other presidents have passed stimulus bills), we should have then just simply overlooked the fact that he tried his best to rob the taxpayers of $900 billion for his union cronies. Talk about obtuse!
