OK, you’ve given us the reasons why it could possibly be a vehicle worth considering. Now please tell us the reasons why it isn’t advisable to buy it...

Well, it might be advisable if you are say, the head of a UAW local, or had some other political reason to buy one. It might be advisable if you happen to be a feckless liberal in charge of fleet vehicles at the government agency you work for. Other than that, the top 5 reasons why I wouldn't buy a Volt are

1. No money for luxuries like a new car.
2. I detest GM at this point, even though I was a GM enthusiast for most of my life.
3. "Government subsidized" is another way of saying "This product sucks or is too expensive. Please buy one anyway".
4. It's completely boring
5. The UAW has something to do with it.

I just read your reasons for not wanting to buy the Volt even if you had the money... it looks like you won’t buy it out of POLITICAL PRINCIPLE, not for reasons of economics or value for money.
