I know all the election excitement is focused on Nov. 2.
Rightfully so.
But I just want to make a quick note for Americans to remember two other names of entrenched politicians who long ago should have worn out their welcome for public service in Washington.
They are Republican Sens. Richard Lugar of Indiana and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
Time and again these two dilettantes in Republican garb have given the Democratic Party the cover of bipartisanship in ways that should make any moral, decent, right-thinking respecter of the American principle of the rule of law shudder in revulsion.
And they just did it again by being turncoats in supporting the Supreme Court nomination of Elena Kagan, probably the most revolting name ever mentioned in the same breath as the words "Supreme Court."
I don't want to relive Kagan's torturous record, but suffice it to say she is, by the standards of all but a handful of Americans, a radical, an extremist, a zealot someone who would kick U.S. military recruiters off campus because the Congress of the United States has mandated that all branches of the armed forces not welcome openly and practicing homosexual personnel. Her college writings show her to be a hard-left socialist, longing for a viable collectivist movement in America. And there's no evidence those views have moderated. Then, of course, there are her actions after Sept. 11 when she helped shield Saudi Arabia from lawsuits filed by families of the victims of that terrorist attack. I could go on and on recounting her disgraceful record.
The idea that any member of the opposition party would support her is appalling, but Lugar and Graham both have.

They worn?
Dick is a fine man who shows what 34 yrs in Washington DC can do to a person. As a resident of Indiana, I hope he does the right thing and retires.
Otherwise it’s very unlikely he would lose in the primary because it would be a 3 or 4 way race.
They’ll have to be caught foot-tapping in public bathroom stalls before they voluntarily retire. Even then, odds are they’d just switch political parties.
Wait until cap and trade comes along. In 2006 Lugar registered 603 acres of black walnut trees on the Chicago Climate Exchange.....He and his family will make money on this.
I wonder why Farrah mentioned just Lugar and Graham when there are two others who need to go -— BOTH WOMEN.
I’m talking about the Maine Senators — Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe. With these two, we practically have TWO MORE Democrats in the Senate.
The RINOs remain with a vast horde of political power and the GOP refuses to eliminate them. Therefore, the best I see the GOP achieving is a Pyrrhic victory in 2010.
I was going to point this out as well... Collins and Snowe are the ones that MUST go, I only hope that the good people of Maine see it as well.
Given the states they represent, retirements by both would tilt the Senate to the right with their replacements.
In contrast, the Maine RINOs would be replaced by even further-to-the-left Dimwit votes.
I do hope that these two Liberals can be removed when their next elections come up....but, as we see with JD Hayworth....the more conservative candidate ends up getting trashed by MS Fox News, GOP establishment, phony-cons like Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly, and a number of posters here on FR
The GOP has entrenched liberals like Graham and Lugar because there are still too many who think GOP automatically means “conservative”. It is a travesty that John McCain may get the GOP nomination in the AZ Senate race...even though he is liberal on every issue
What else were you expecting from the Stupid Party?
