The White House says it didn't try to stop news organizations who had access to secret U.S. military documents from publishing reports about the leaks.

WikiLeaks posted 91,000 classified documents on Afghanistan Sunday. The organization's founder says he still has thousands more Afghan files to post.

As Rush said, where is the Valerie Plame like outrage at who leaked this information. Real covert agents are endangered by this. Where’s the investigations? I want to see someone frogmarched!

"WikiLeaks posted 91,000 classified documents on Afghanistan Sunday"

If they truly are classified documents, why is Obama shirking his duty to defend national security?

LOL, if WikiLeaks isn’t a Pentagon operation, I guarantee they are using it for intelligence jiu jitsu.

The reports after Obama took office haven’t been leaked. It is obvious that the WH wants to embarass the Bush administration and could care less about national security.
It is time for them to go.

I find this deeply, deeply troubling.

Yes, they could go through legal channels to stop the publish without a problem TODAY.

BUT they will not. Which means the papers were given not stolen.

Ok, I guess I’m just a little brain, but help me understand something....back in the non-bizarro world days, wouldn’t this sort of thing have been considered treasonous? What if, back in WWII, the press released info about how we were going to go after the German army, what would have been the response? Would they have even ever considered doing such a thing? I’m trying to understand what the media’s motivation is here.... to totally undermine our military in a potentially devastating way? Every day, more and more stuff I never would have believed 5 years ago.

I think the end game here is internet regulation under the aegis of national security.

Bingo!

I know your questions are rhetorical, but the answer is that the White House was where the leaks originated, of course, with every mention of Obastard carefully culled out.

a. White House is source of leaks
b. Prelude to war crimes trials of anyone who knew or saw Bush
c. Prelude to government control of the internet
d. Perfect excuse to cut and run in Afghanistan (until the Chinese ask for help securing their new copper mines).

I know of no post WWII case where the US govt attempted to supress a foreign news organization using a legal process. If you know of any, I’d love to learn about it.

The leaks are from activities during the Bush Era, our President Obamination is changing the subject back to Bush. This is a political move.

Bingo. O-Blame-A’s “blame Bush” tactic is wearing thin on the public. He needs a new entity to place blame for the failure of “his war” in Afghanistan.. That damn “Internet” thingy.. This is a set-up for further restrictions on Internet freedom.. While we all agree that dissemination of classified information to anyone not cleared to see it and a “need to know” should be prosecuted on Treason charges, this will be spun to rally the public in support of killing Internet free speech (although this isn’t about free speech whatsoever). Another twisted, bassackwards lefty political set-up.

Under copyright laws it is done everyday.
These documents could easily be placed under copyright laws.

At the very least, the administration should be working at plugging the leaks, determining the leakers, and countering and discrediting future leaks with false information that would as well assist in ferreting out leakers...

I don’t think govt/public docs can be copyrighted, but I’m not an expert.
