THE US government secretly advised Scottish ministers it would be "far preferable" to free the Lockerbie bomber than jail him in Libya.
Correspondence obtained by The Sunday Times reveals the Obama administration considered compassionate release more palatable than locking up Abdel Baset al-Megrahi in a Libyan prison.

“the White House pudding is getting awfully interesting.”
if it were not so despicable I almost couldn’t wait to hear old Gibbsy’s soft show on this bit.
One of my uncles’ was supposed to be on PanAm 103 and just missed it because his connecting flight was delayed.
Helping to release this animal just shows how incompetent the administraton is and how depraved it’s ideology.
Ok I’ll add a post to this but I already know he is the enemy of our Republic and I should not need to post to understand that.
Don’t really have a problem with this one, actually, considering that it has always looked really likely that Libya had nothing to do with it and it was Iran who was behind the attack (and this isn’t a conspiracy theory, google for Iran Lockerbie and there’s boatloads of newspaper articles about it).
I mean this looks terrible that the only guy who was convicted of a civilian bombing is sent back to live a normal life, but it’s Iran that is the guilty party here.
Just one muzzie helping another muzzie.
This country is over.
Treason ping!
I agree fully with your sentiments, but it’s 2010 and “third party” is a flat stupid, stone cold loser.
(Please tell me you were just venting...)
No, the solution is to take over the existing Republican party and that process is already well underway. It will be a slow methodical grind, but it can be done. Just look at the way the Democrat party has been completely taken over by communists.
Wasn’t there an attempt to blame BP for the release about a week or two ago?
You need to pay to get to the story, Sunday Times is by subscription.
But they DO list it as their top feature.

If true, extradition to the US to stand trial for his crimes never entered the administration's collective mind.
Has Obama apologized to Lybia yet?
The list, ping
British officials claim Mr Obama and Mrs Clinton were kept informed at all stages of discussions concerning Megrahis return.
I suppose they will all attempt the excuse that it was a *claim* from British officials, but I'm sorry, we've been through way too many of these things NOT to believe that they had to be on board before the slime could get out.
HEY PAL!
Obama blatantly LIED about his position here!
He told us he was so “heartbroken, so angry and disappointed” about this decision...this street corner con artist faking it as potus with not a shred of honor!
An oily, lying con man!
YOU DON’T A HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT??!!??
Hello???
This letter is probably a red herring to cover up much worse.
Proof in the foreign press ping. Corrupt American Obama Tribe Press...*crickets*
I thought the same as you. I remember thinking at the time that not only did Obama know about his release but, regardless of the reports, he supported it.
Everything Obama does proves that he is an idiot.
Well what should anyone expect, this is the political class in action. When they want something done which favors their agenda, being sneaks, cheats and lairs is just one part of the racket.
This is a clear lesson in Lenin/Alinsky/DNC Political Class 101, make an excuse then doing what you damn well please and let others worry about why it was done. Everyone should be asking why this was done in this manner while following the money. The political class will sell out anyone and everyone as long as it fits their agenda and can be useful.
See example Lt. Col. Chessani vs. DNC;
