Scandal: The former Ways And Means chairman faces possible expulsion for playing fast and loose with his finances and taxes. Since that's what the Congress has done with ours, maybe they should all face expulsion.
It is said absolute power corrupts absolutely, and for much of his 40 years in Congress, many spent riding herd on the nation's tax code, Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., had absolute power over our tax laws and finances. He was, in political terms, 10 feet tall and bullet-proof. Not anymore.
We don't know if his shenanigans got too much for even House Democrats to handle or if they just felt they had enough problems this November, particularly on the issue of taxes, to have as one more albatross around their neck — someone who made avoiding them an art form.
The House Ethics Committee, an unintentional oxymoron, has voted to form an adjudication panel that will now conduct something similar to a trial of an investigative panel's findings that Rangel has committed serious ethics violations that warrant some kind of action.
This may or may not be significant, but this is the first time in eight years such a panel has been formed, the last time being one that resulted in the expulsion of Rep. James Traficant, D-Ohio, who later went to prison.

The next time you get your paycheck (those of you that still have jobs, that is), take a real, long, hard look at the federal tax that was taken out and then think: “RANGEL”... Oh yeah, this rotten POS deserves a whole lot more than life in prison. Prison is too good for him.
My thoughts exactly!! He must have really pissed the Queen off, the Dems “NEVER” boot thier own. Issa must have something really ugly and ready to drop if the Dems are going to punt Rangle. The Dems probably asked him to go quietly but he won’t.

40 years ago Ol' Charlie defeated another Democrat crook, Adam Clayton Powell, who had been kicked out of the House but re-elected in a special election to fill his own vacancy.
This time up, who is Charlie the Crook facing in the primary? Adam Clayton Powell's son. Eh, eh.

The Harlem, er New York, primaries are Sept 14.
The Socialists have supposedly scheduled Rangel's trial for "mid September".
Ol' Charlie is 80. The poop is the Socialists don't want Rangel around for November Republican campaign fodder.
But, is the whole process being coordinated with Charlie to work in Dem favor?
If Charlie wins the primary, the House kicks him out, puts in Clayton Powells son and claims to that is proof they are anti-corruption.
If Powell wins the primary, the Socialists claim their constituents are anti-corruption.
Charlie is in on the whole thing?

The HOUSE would NOT determine Rangel’s successor.
A special election, called by the Governor would.
And Rangel’s district, where NEWYORKCITYGOPMAN lives, is NOT just Harlem.
And it would be JUST as bad having another Powell in that seat. His father screwed up too !

They booted James Traficant but that was after he was convicted of taking bribes, filing false tax returns, racketeering, and forcing his aides to perform chores.
Ol' Charlie might be a piker compared to Traficant.
Alcee Hastings was a sitting judge who was impeached by the Senate for corruption and perjury. So he got himself elected to the House and was welcomed by Democrats.

Looks like Charlie also represents his new home, Rikers Island. Or he could leave the country quick from his airport at La Guardia. I see some Astoria, Queens, Long Island in his district.

I find my tagline most fitting.
My guess is he will agree to resign and pay taxes on the $75k and all other charges will go away and he will retire with full bennies to his hole in the Carribbean and will be forgotten until he assume room temperature and then will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetary with full honors and all the while Lindsey Graham and John McCain will remind us what a great public servant ol Charley was. (Long sentence, eh?)

No I meant in Manhattan, it is NOT just Harlem, it includes part of the Upper West Side where I live.
Geographically, the district does include part of Bronx and Queens, but there are NO voters there, only in Manhattan.
He will end up a HERO, and anyone who criticizes him, will be a mean spirited, uncaring person.
The blacks in HARLEM are just too blind to see what this man is all about.
Our GOP candidate, black Reverend Michel Faulkner, is doing his best, and he has even been on some national media, like Monica Crowley, but it is an unbelivably hard, if not IMPOSSIBLE for a Republican, even a black one to run a
competitive race in this area. We are FULLY aware of this, too. In any NORMAL part of the nation, Faulkner would be elected.
I first started voting in 1971 and RANGEL has always been my Congressman. In fact, for a time, the Republicans gave him their line each November.
He is friendly with Fidel Castro, he called George W. Bush, for whom I was a NY-15 delegate in 2000, the very President who appointed Condi Rice and Colin Powell Sec’ys of State, ‘our Bull Connor”, and during the early days of the Iraq war, he attended rallies sponsored by leftist anti war groups, addressing and encouraging them!
I don’t care that SIXTY years ago, he served his nation honorably in Korea.
That was THEN, this is NOW!
America has given this man a wonderful career, a marvelous life. Much better than my life; and he has made a mockery out of public service.
The Dems probably asked him to go quietly but he won’t.

You are probably right. He has become so arrogant and so wealthy. But, as someone pointed out here, he’ll still wind up with his big fat pension and a lot of other perks when he does leave the stage.
