McCain Dumps $10 Million On Primary (PANICKING, DESPERATE RINO ALERT)
National Journal ^ | 2010-07-23 | Sean Sullivan

Posted on 07/23/2010 4:04:26 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) spent more than $10M on his primary battle against ex-Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R), according to his 2ndQ campaign finance report, leaving him with a much narrower financial advantage in the GOP primary than he once enjoyed.

McCain has spent a total of $15.7M this cycle, according to FEC reports, and he has just $1.78M left to spend before the Aug. 24 GOP primary. Hayworth had $922K in the bank, his reports showed.

"Senator McCain takes every campaign seriously, and this race is no exception. Senator McCain is proud of the statewide support he's received from Arizonans, both financial and otherwise," said McCain spokesperson Brian Rogers.

McCain has been blanketing the AZ airwaves with TV ads, but he has apparently made a significant cutback in the size of his buy lately. According to Hayworth media consultant Dan Bayens, McCain has reduced his ad spending from $150K-$250K a week -- where he had been since March -- down to $40K a week currently.

Where is he getting this money from?

A lot of candidates who are typically safe just bank their money over years and years and years - as McCain has done - allowing for a rather substantial emergency reserve.

The fact that he feels compelled to deplete nearly all of his reserves speaks volumes about what internal polling must be telling them after the first two debates.

When you control 1/100th of 1/2 of the legislative power of the US and over its trillions of dollar yearly budget, money beats a path to your door.

And they work for it. Good thing they spend half their time raising money and only half legislating. Imagine if they spent ALL that time legislating! shudder!

I thought that McCain, co-author of CFR, was opposed to such obscene amounts of money being spent on political campaigns.

Don't be too happy, even though it is tempting.

If crats and RINOs feel threatened by the free people, they will arrange some event that will "unify" us.

If it is a war against Iran, they will probably get the support of many of us on this forum, although not all.

They might lose of few of their own anti-war base, but they would hold onto power, and that is what they are most interested in.

Gack. Looks like he’s spending wifey’s money to make sure a real conservative doesn’t end up in “his” Senate seat.

$15.7 million total - attacking Hayworth? My God! Anybody that votes for this scumbag McCain at this point needs to have a lobotomy.

It’s a travesty, isn’t it - we need to be focussing our funds on taking out Democrats, not wasting them like this.

If McPain wins the GOP nomination, who will be his Democrat oponent? Would the Democrat be worse for the country than McPain?

A youngish, bumbling moron, spoiled brat, carpet-bagger from CA who ran an ice skating rink into the ground then got "promoted" to the Tucson City Council. He didn't last long there, on the Peter Principle ladder up. His name's Rodney Glassman. I'd say he was *slightly* better for business than the average leftist on our council. That's not saying much.

He had no idea about illegals when my husband asked him (after Glassman first won the seat) and is the typical fascist-proponent of more Big Brother and cameras everywhere.

All that said, I personally don't think he'd be worse than McCommie, and maybe easier to boot out. 7 years is an awfully long time though.

Exactly, and your tagline as well.

He would be better than McCain. McCain will rally the RINOS for amnesty.

OMG, in Phoenix McAmnesty has run attack commercials on the four talk radio stations EVERY 30 minutes for the past 6 months. One cannot get away from McAmnesty ads any more than you can get away from "fingers on the chalkboard" Kenyan boy king's voice every 30 minutes on talk radio news. I don't watch TV but I hear from my wife McAmnesty is on there also every day.

I’m happy to say that I’ve never voted for the POS McLettuce, nor will I ever. That the clueless GOP runs this bozo traitor repeatedly is unbelievable to me. And as a conservative independent, I will not choose THAT lesser of evils.

The GOP is dead as a party if McDemocrat is back in DC in 2011. Look no further than the Grahamnesty, Yellow Snowe, Floozy Collins, Dick Loogee- r, and Scott “ Clueless” Brown behaviors in the last two weeks. Purge the RINOs AZ.

McCain’s infamous words during the 2008 campaign that I’ll never forget... and that NOBODY else should either:

“We have nothing to fear from an Obama administration”
