House Panel Finds Evidence That Rangel Violated Ethics Guidelines

After a nearly two-year investigation, a House investigative panel has found that Representative Charles B. Rangel violated a range of ethics rules, dealing a serious blow to Mr. Rangel, a Harlem Democrat, in the twilight of his political career.

The investigative panel did not disclose any details about the nature of the violations that it found, but one House official who has been briefed on the findings said that they included the most serious allegations that had been examined.

“All I know is that it was a majority of them,” the House official said, asking not to be identified as the ruling is supposed to remain confidential for one week.A lawyer involved in Mr. Rangel’s defense, who also asked not to be named, disputed that characterization, adding that the case is not over yet.

“He has not been found guilty of anything,” the lawyer said.

The committee had been investigating claims that Mr. Rangel improperly rented four rent-stabilized apartments in Harlem at a price well below market value, despite rules forbidding House members from accepting gifts worth more than $50.

It also had been investigating allegations that he improperly used his office to provide legislative favors for an oil-drilling company that pledged a $1 million donation for an academic center named for Mr. Rangel and improperly failed to report taxable income received from a villa he owns in the Dominican Republic.

The case involving the 80-year-old representative has been closely watched by both parties and House candidates across the country. Republicans have sought to highlight Mr. Rangel’s problems to underscore what they see as Democratic arrogance and corruption.

I fervently hope Andrew Breibart had nothing to do with this.

Rangel should IMMEDIATELY be removed from the Ways and Means Committee!

(Actually, he SHOULD have been removed at the beginning of the investigation pending the outcome.)

If he was a White man, he would have been removed years ago.

The color of his skin got Obama elected. The color of his skin is protecting Rangle. The cries of ‘post-racial’ politics is nonsense. Everything in the government is about race and it has only become worse with Obama.

Obviously he will be pardoned because this is obviously only because Rangel is black.

Members of this House Investigative Panel will now be charged with a Hate Crime ;and forced to resign, possible criminal charges to follow.

Rangel will be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

And then he will get a massage in his room and will be charged with inappropriate behavior. Has his wife divorced him yet?

This criminal should go directly to jail, a blind person could have found the evidence.

“He has not been found guilty of anything,” the lawyer said.

Yeah -- how well did that factoid work for Newt Gingrich, eh?

My azz he would have been removed if he was white. Look at all of the white crooks in the Democratic party who are still around when they should be in jail.

Start with Barney Frank. That scum bag had a homosexual prostitution ring operating out of his house. He is still around. I think that half of the people in Congress, Democrat or Republican are crooks.

They spend a couple of terms sucking up tax payer dollars and they become millionaires. A thief is a thief, I don’t care what color he is.

Well, he said it best...

Regardless of the nature of their crime or any rehabilitation that may have occurred, these ex-felons cannot participate in the decision-making process of this great Nation.
