The White House last year released a supposedly scientific analysis that claimed to show that adopting the "stimulus" bill would cut unemployment. Indeed, the report specifically estimated that the unemployment rate today would be down to 7.5 percent.
Something obviously went wrong...

“Uh yeah, “something went wrong”” Like we(Americans) like a bunch of DUMBASSES let the press pick our candidate(McPain) and THEN we(or 53% of us) elected an “empty-suit” Halfrican, Maxist Bastard as President. So WHAT could go “wrong” with this scenerio?!
The White House has no idea what they are doing. It’s the worst administration this country has ever had. The President and the people surrounding him are like little kids in a big swimming pool and the are drowning in their lack of knowledge and stupidity.
“something went wrong”...all by design.
It’s a good article. We should be applauding this author, don’t you think?
This president has failed to show leadership in jobs, in the economy, in the Gulf oil crisis, and in ending the war in Afghanistan.
He has advocated high taxes, government intrusion into our lives, loss of freedom, and an “royal”, golf-day outing type aristocracy.
“Let them eat cake.”
Funneling the treasury into foreign banks and big money political donors didn’t help?
Golly!
Must be Bush’s fault.
6% unemployment under Bush = disaster
10% unemployment under Baraq = new normal
the journo list MSM gang has it all figured out
Actually it's an excellent article for sharing, because it tells the story concisely and in a way that a non-economist can understand.
Instead, most of the money was "shoveled" to state and local governments to cover their deficits. The main effect was to cover state and local deficits, in effect transferring debt they cannot legally incur onto the federal balance sheet. Besides being bad policy it has no stimulative effect on the economy even by Keynesian standards.
I was very impressed and happy to see it show up in a NY newspaper. The Post is pretty good on issues, something like Fox News used to be.
Hahahaha....Massachusetts has spent $500,000 so far on signs touting the stimulus bill. You drive by and see a sign that says another stimulus funded project....and all of the trucks have license plates from Michigan!
The public is voting with their pocket book and Obama is going to lose big time.
I am still hunkering down, and plan to keep doing so till this socialist is out of office.
Ummmm . . . . . because he's a flaming communist??????
I'm just guessing - Do I win a prize??
But . . . . but . . . . but, Jimmuh likes him!!
(Jimmuh has now moved up to SECOND worst administration that this country has ever had!! He LOVES zero!!! LOL!!)
Only because he dropped to number 2.
With apologies to Hanlon - regarding this administraion never attribute to stupidity what can be attributed to malice.
