The number of people applying for initial state unemployment insurance benefits rose 37,000 to 464,000 in the week ended July 17, the Labor Department reported Thursday. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had expected an initial claims level of 450,000.

A person would have to be senile to stay in the market. It's being "cooked" by BigBanks!
EVERY THURSDAY, another (almost) half million NEW claims? That's 2 million a month, 24 million a YEAR! IN THE MEANTIME, OBAMA PLAYS GOLF AND PARTIES ON AF1!
I was wondering why the market dipped at the end there yesterday. Normally means negative news is a coming.
Or, that bread lines are actually good for the jobs market like unemployment.
The market dipped yesterday (in real time) as Ben Bernanke spoke before the congressional finance committee. He had several negative comments about the economy. Within minutes of his first negative comment the market fell 1%.
This a.m. a guy on Fox described that *unemployment benefits* may be granted for TWO YEARS!!!
IIRC He stated that in Delaware the unemployment allowance is $530 a week and suggested that people being offered $600 jobs would prefer to stay home & watch TV. No incentive to take any job offer.
Obama exceeds expectations!
I'm afraid that disqualifies you as a journalist because the statement is true. LOL
Remember the 7up commerials...the Uncola? Welcome to Obozo’s new Un-generation. Unexpected Unemployment Uninsured Unconstitutional etc...Uncool.
The Summer of Recovery needs a “Funemployment” Czar to keep people’s minds right.
Wasting away again in Obamaville...
Thats true, you have to hire the breadline workers, union only, for dispensing the bread.
You get a twofer on that. You can arm those workers with billy clubs to keep the crackers at the back of the line.
I expected you would say that. Bet you didn't expect that!
Obama continues his best, along with his “Hate America” Democrat Party to destroy the USA economy and the American nation!!! Rampart Black racism, no jobs, destroying the private economic sector, Illegal immigrant champion, lover of Reverand Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan, America hater to his very core!!! What a guy!!!!
Please stop blaming the people out of work for this mess.
Eliminating all unemployment benefits will not create the millions upon millions of jobs needed to sustain the America we know and love.
This is not directed at you personally but written to all those who are sure it’s the unemployment benefits that are causing the lost jobs.
To the employees of Forbes, Wall St., and those who invest heavily, they really don't see any problems. Stocks go up several hundred points here and there, then fall, then go back up. There are people making a killing off of this(I have a few friends who have been doing well at this the past few months) if you time it right with your investments. To them the unemployment issue is "Someone else's problem", not theirs.
During the campaign, DemocRATS went around saying, "If you want to live like a Republican, vote for a DemocRAT." Is this what you thought living like a Republican meant?
Why aren’t Republicans in Congress and elsewhere demanding, “where are the jobs?” This and the coming higher taxes on everything should be the constant refrain of Republicans this summer. I’ve heard nothing from any of them lately. They should be hitting Obama and the Democrats every minute with these facts. Instead, they’re getting sidetracked by all the chaff he’s throwing in the air to divert attention from the misery index. That index should be revived and put up on billboards, t.v. commercials, and anywhere else that can be found that will get around the MSM’s censorship of bad news relating to Obama.
