Sherrod Says She'd Love to Talk Race With Obama
ABC News ^ | 7-22-10

Posted on 07/22/2010 5:15:17 AM PDT by SJackson

Former Agriculture Department official Shirley Sherrod said Thursday she wants to discuss racial issues with President Obama, who's "not someone who has experienced some of the things I've experienced in life."

But she also said on morning news shows she feels there is no need for Obama to apologize for her wretched week, which started with a conservative blogger posting controversial remarks she made, and led to her ouster as an Agriculture Department official and then, ultimately, apologies from both the White House and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack.

...snip...

Sherrod said of Obama: "I'd like to help him see some of the things that he could do in the future."

"I really regret what they did. But as I said before, he's my president," Sherrod said. "When you get it down to where the rubber meets the road, I think you need to understand a little more what life is like. I'd love to talk to him, though, or people in his administration ... to help them understand."

She's just full of "Love".

“I don’t know enough to know. I wish I did. I would love to sue. I am going to talk about it.”

The black population in the US is 13.5%. If the proportions are way out of line, this needs to be investigated.

We could start with the postal service: 21% Black/African American in 2008.

Must be Reagan’s fault.

At least we put your whining in its proper context.

Excuse me, but who are the whiners here?

It seems to me that whining pays off for members of certain identity groups.

So, when is that White farmer going to sue for being shoved off to “one of his own kind”?

Those words would be actionable if he were the member of one of the uber-privileged identity groups.

So, is it Reagan’s fault, then?

Please, we all would like to know what you think.

I'm not surprised to see you here defending a black extortionist for racial redress. I actually defended her myself for the tape being taken out of context but aside from that she is nothing but a socialist bigot seeking to get paid.

Nor am I surprised to be taking the opposite posiition than you on the issue of civil rights. However, Sherrod's comments at the NAACP dinner, whether in context or out of context, are completely unacceptable on a number of different levels. Unlike you, she gets no free pass from me on that score. However, again unlike you I entirely support her right and the rural farm cooperative's right to seek legal redress for past discrimination, especially as it seems to have been a 'systematic' problem for black farmers throughout the rural South.

Your vaunted Ms Sherrod who actually got 300,000 of the 13 million awarded to her co-op for racial discrimination is a shakedown artist and is now preparing to sue Andrew Breitbart. Does that make you happy too?

Lol! I guess Ms. Sherrod just doesn't know her place huh?

-btw I don't fault Breitbart for editing the 43 minute video, but he clearly identifies the offensive comments as being made in Sherrod's current capacity as a USDA employee which is false.

IMO Breitbart loses alot of ground with this stunt. Whether or not Sherrod can make a case against him remains to be seen, since Breitbart did nothing more than post the video online with some misleading written comments. Furthermore, BigGovernment's video did include some of the so-called exculpatory comments Sherrod made, contrary to what some liberal outposts are claiming.

My guess is she sues the USDA for firing her, and she wins.

You can always be found on the "black" side here even if it defies conservatism.

Lol! Who knows wtf that's supposed to mean, but it sounds like your problem not mine.

Lol! Judging by your comments on this thread and as I pointed out, YOU are friend. I just tried to give your complaints about the Pigford v. Villsack lawsuit and Shirley Sherrod's NAACP comments some context.

My guess is she sues a lot of people. Who wins remains to be seen. So far everything that I’ve seen of her shows her to be a fairly shrewd opportunist.

Isn't Sherrod Southern? Sometimes I think the definition of Southern is too narrow.

Whether she sues USDA or not, I'll wager Agriculture Sec. Vilsack announces his 'retirement' before years end. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see her fill his shoes. Probably be an improvement too.

Yes, of course, if you’re not part of a “protected” identity group, then you’re the whiner when you raise an objection to an injustice.

OK, I get it now.

Protected “identity” groups get to use the “race” card indiscriminately without being called whiners.

You and I are not on the same page.

You never did answer my question about Reagan.

So, was he to blame for the “discrimination” experienced by the poor liddle Ms. Sherrod?

If I remember correctly, those were very tough financial times, and there weren’t many people of any ancestry or identity group having much success obtaining loans for anything.

I don't think so. She's proven to be a distraction to Øbongo's agenda and will always pose a continued hazard. She doesn't bring anything of particular value to Øbongo's table and she doesn't hold anything over his head so there is little motivation - positive or negative - that she can contribute.

As for replacing vilsack - I have no doubt a untrained seal could do a better job than he is capable of doing. I just don't see sherrod doing it.

I'm not in the habit of doing other people's homework but since you're such a nice fellow who obviously doesn't know very much, here is the background on the class action lawsuit against the USDA.

The Pigford Case

After you've read that and if you're still confused about the circumstances and timeframes of the litigation let me know.

Sir, I’m asking for *YOUR* opinion.

No amount of homework I can do will give me that.

Everyone with a modicum of intelligence can see your ad hominems, condescension and invective for the pathetic little dodges they are.
