If Barbour and Obama could agree on one little area of jack boots (again, I’d look at eminent domain), they’d be shaking hands in a minute.

Cain would at least force Obama to meet the racial issues debate front and center, or look really stupid dodging it.

Politics is ALL about perception. Trouble with Barbour is he would turn off a lot of the Reagan democrats and moderates from the North and West....folk who otherwise would vote for a non-Southern conservative (like Reagan).

Sorry, anti-Southern prejudice is still very prevalent outside of the South.

And regionalism is still very big. Conservatives in Massachusetts as a rule still love Romney (look at the alternatives up there!)—even though I, as a Southern conservative... could not in good conscience vote for him.
A conservative BLACK man however, even a Southerner...could be attractive everywhere.
