Conservative Black Republican Congressional Candidate Thrown Out Of Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser Because Big Donor Dems Object

You would think it couldn’t happen in America but it has. Retired Army Lt. Colonel Allen West is a conservative Black Republican. He was to be honored at an upcoming Cystic Fibrosis Fundraising Dinner in Florida, but the invitation was withdrawn because of pressure from liberal Dems who also support the Foundation.
Allen is running, (and running well) for the Congressional seat now held by far-left Democrat Ron Klein. The district, Florida 22, covers the east coast of Florida from Fort Lauderdale to north of Palm Beach. It is NOT a “Minority-Majority” Black district. Allen is a well-honored vet of the Gulf and a school teacher as well. His wife Angela has her doctorate. They are an incredible American success story.
The South Florida Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Society picked Allen and his wife to honor at their upcoming fundraising gala dinner. They were to be named one of “South Florida Finest Couples” at the Gala. In the process, Allen committed to raise $10,000 for the Foundation.
Everything was fine until two big time Dems who are supporters of the Foundation heard that Allen and Angela were to be honored. They threatened to cancel their support of the Foundation if Allen and Angela were allowed to attend and be honored. There is currently no proof that Dem Congressman Ron Klein approved the threats, but his fingerprints seem to be all over this. Many people think it is certainly a tactic that Klein and the Obama wing of the Democrat Party would certainly stoop so low as to use.
We do have the names of the rich Dem who made the threats, and an email trail, so this is far from finished.
The bottom line is that 12:10 today, Ms Chris Landshut, the well-paid Executive Director of the South Florida CF Chapter called Allen and “politely” asked of she could withdraw the Society’s invitation to Allen and Angela.
Because the Cystic Fibrosis Society was afraid of losing big donors, a Conservative Black American and his wife were NOT kicked to the back of the bus. They were kicked OFF the bus.
This may go very big. South Florida media is beginning to work the story and I would not be surprised if it quickly went national on Talk Radio.
I spend 30+ years in TV news. This is one of the lowest stunts I have seen yet.

A brand-new, four-bedroom home for $100? Yes — if you’re the winner of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s House of Dreams drawing in December. About 60 guests attended a kickoff cocktail party for the drawing last Tuesday at Charley’s Crab in Fort Lauderdale.

Guest of honor was Andrea Levy, 10, who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis four years ago. Her dad, Mark Levy, president of Oriole Homes, and her mom, Jo Ann Levy , were determined to do something to fight the disease. The first House of Dreams drawing two years ago was the result.
“We were trying not to be passive,” Jo Ann Levy said. “You feel like a victim. And what we could do was put together a house.”
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic killer that causes the respiratory system to secrete thick mucus that interferes with breathing. Twice each day, the Levys have to spend 15 minutes pounding on Andrea’s back to clear her lungs. “One day you’re just a parent, and overnight you become a nurse, a nutritionist, a therapist and a pharmacist,” Jo Ann Levy said.
There’s a bright side: New drugs have increased the life expectancy of cystic fibrosis patients from five to 29 years. And gene therapy may provide a cure in the future. “We have hope,” said Don McClosky, a lawyer and Andrea’s grandfather. He and wife Judy, a community volunteer, are chairing the House of Dreams project with Andrea’s parents and her paternal grandparents, Richard Levy, board chairman of Oriole Homes, and his wife Bea.
Others attending the party were retired CPA Harold Hippler and wife Joan, a community volunteer; Ken Perkins, president of Gem Aire, an air conditioning company; respiratory therapist Sharry De Groff; community volunteer Allison Sacks; and Shelly Greene, special events coordinator for the South Florida office of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The event at the Mizner Center of the Boca Raton Resort & Club attracted more than 300 people and raised $65,000.

Boca woman attends health care speech in DC

Andrea Levy of Boca Raton, a 24-year-old cystic fibrosis patient and advocate attended President Obama’s health care speech Wednesday, invited by Congressman Ron Klein (D-22).
“It is an exciting opportunity to join Congressman Klein in Washington and hear directly from President Obama on the issue of health care reform,” Levy said. “My number one concern, and what keeps me up at night, is how can I get health care coverage? My options for finding a job and building my career should not be limited by my health insurance company.”
Levy was born with cystic fibrosis, a genetic condition that causes chronic lung and digestive problems. Levy has fought her disease with courage and volunteers her time as an advocate for others that face similar health challenges. In September of 2008, the local business that had been run by the Levy family for over 45 years fell victim to the recession and was forced to close its doors, meaning Andrea’s health insurance coverage was no longer available.

Odd. 2009’s nominees included Governor Charlie Crist (RINO) Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp (R), Commissioner Angel Gomez (D) and Congressman Adam Putnam (R). The 2009 event raised $110,000 dollars.

Crist builds support, raises money in Fort Lauderdale

With his transformation from Republican to no party affiliation candidate for U.S. Senate, Charlie Crist is feeling the love from the Democratic quarters of Broward’s business and legal community.
More than 150 people, checks in hand (or suit jacket pockets or purse) showed up for a midday Wednesday Crist for Senate fundraiser at the O Lounge adjacent to Las Olas Boulevard’s trendy YOLO restaurant. The room was packed; about 60 people had RSVP’d for the event.
Crist acknowledged the importance of Wednesday’s fundraiser, which fell on the last day of the quarter and a deadline for contributions to show up on the next round of finance reports. Pundits will use the quarterly totals to judge the impact of his decision to leave the Republican Party and pursue the no party route to the Senate and his credibility as a candidate.
Crist was the headliner, but the event was put on by Democrats for (mostly) Democrats. The co-hosts of the event were Property Appraiser Lori Parrish and state Rep. Ari Porth, D-Coral Springs, chairman of the Broward Legislative Delegation.
The fundraiser-organizer for the event, Stephanie Toothaker, a lawyer at Ruden McClosky, has long been involved in Democratic politics. She worked in government and on campaigns for former Florida U.S. Sen. Bob Graham and on legal teams for the John Kerry and Barack Obama presidential campaigns.

Freepers who know me, know I am a volunteer in both Allen West's campaign and Dan Fanelli’s campaign. It is my goal to see both of these honorable men go to Congress!
My hubby and I have been spending time here in Orlando to attend events with Dan Fanelli, and also went to Delray to attend events with Allen West. Allen has only one opponent in the Primary and I know Allen is going to win if every voter in FL District 22 does the right thing! If you are not in Allen's District 22, perhaps you will consider sending a donation to Allen's campaign.
Dan Fanelli has 6 opponents in this District 8 Republican Primary and I hope the voters in District 8 get to know Dan as I know he is the man we need to face Alan Grayson come November.
For any Freepers reading this who may be in District 8, below is my opinion of the top four candidates running in this FL-8 Primary. I urge you to check out all the candidates and realize the Primary is where we pick the best to battle the Socialist/DEM in November! Why I would vote for Dan Fanelli:
Dan Fanelli is a man of honesty and integrity. He has an Economics Degree from the US Naval Academy and knows how to help businesses create jobs. He has strong military and business experience, combined with the leadership qualities we need in Congress!
Dan is a Constitutional Conservative who is for maintaining a strong military and making sure our troops and veterans are supported! He is for de-funding and repealing the Obama Health Care and for using free market principals for health care reform. Dan is for limited Government spending and for the Fair Tax! He would improve our National Security and work to end illegal immigration! Dan is also for term limits for members of Congress!
In addition to all Dan’s excellent qualifications, I would vote for Dan Fanelli because:
1. He is a Statesman candidate, not a career politician!
2. He is a Veteran, not a Lawyer!
3. He is an Constitutional conservative and a life time oath keeper!

Just my opinion:
Kurt Kelly: Former FL State Legislator, Kurt Kelly, gave up his option to run again in the FL House in order to run for Congress from District 8 when he learned that Dan Webster was not going to run for Congress. I like Kurt, but I do not agree with his decision to vote in favor of the Florida SunRail, and he has no military experience. As I said, I like Kurt Kelly as a person and know he would still be in our Florida State House if he had known that Dan Webster was going to run for Congress after all.
Todd Long: Todd Long ran for Congress before in District 8, but did not win that Republican primary election. Since he ran before, he does have name recognition. Just recently Todd Long paid for a Zogby Poll to show that he would win over Alan Grayson in November. No other District 8 candidates were part of the poll, and therefore it was a fictitious situation with the intent of misleading the public, just like the politicians in Washington today. The Zogby Poll question to 500 likely voters was: “If the election were held today, would you vote for Todd Long or Alan Grayson?” (Grayson is already capitalizing on Todd’s poll, and “past” history by saying Todd must have gotten “500 drunks” to take the poll.) Todd Long is a lawyer, and I would just rather support an honest and experienced Veteran.
Dan Webster: Former FL State Senator, Dan Webster, served Floridians well in our state senate. However, when asked if he was going to run for Congress from District 8, Dan Webster made it public that he was NOT going to run for Congress. His decision not to run made other Florida Republicans decide to enter the District 8 race for Congress. Then shortly before the deadline, Dan Webster entered the race with immediate endorsements from former Governors, Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush. Dan Webster has spent 30 years in politics, and is said to be the GOP favorite, but with that come many “strings attached”. Webster appears to be a tired candidate when campaigning and misses many candidate events. I think it is time for Webster to retire and put his support behind a new Constitutional Conservative Republican candidate like Dan Fanelli.
Like I said, just my opinion!
