Congressional Black Caucus releases statement on Sherrod firing Posted: July 21st, 2010 10:42 AM ET
Washington (CNN) The Congressional Black Caucus released the following statement today on the firing of USDA employee Shirley SherrodIt is troubling that Shirley Sherrod was asked for her resignation as Georgia State Director for Rural Development at the U.S. Department of Agriculture because of an edited video clip. A full review of the clip demonstrates Ms. Sherrods personal transformation. She was clearly educating the public about the power of redemption. It is now apparent that Secretary Vilsack did not have all of the facts available to him and overreacted.
The Congressional Black Caucus continues to believe that Ms. Sherrod was unfairly asked to resign, without due process and should be reinstated immediately. There are many individuals still serving in the Department of Agriculture who were responsible for years of discrimination against African American farmers.
We also believe that a national dialogue on race must be held. Last November, we held a forum on race in Washington DC to begin the discussion. The basis for Ms. Sherrods resignation is another example of why we must not sweep race under the rug.

Any word from the racists at the CBC about the racists at the NAACP???
No?
I’m shocked.
Another racist organization speaks!
With a copy to the NAACP.
Of course they do, Being some of the most racist people in the country themselves.
Yep, lets talk about WalpinGate, russian spies gate, and shirley gate. All gonzo quickly so nuttin was discovered. Lets look again at the black “farmers” cash gettins’.
The ? is.....WHEN did she stop her racist policies? Just last year she and her hubby got 150,000 each for supposed racism in the very dept she works for....HUMMMMMMM.
The CBC can go FI.
Oh? Are they planning to yell at me, call me names, and threaten to kill my children? And then tell me to shut up? Is it time to do that dialogue again?
This whole episode is just one more example of the double standard that exists when it comes to, in this case, race relations. Talk about a rush to judgment! Sadly though this is typical for these situations.
It would be nice if they learned something from this, but I fear that’s not going to happen.
I'll bet the CBC and NAACP would be more than happy to have this video "swept under the rug".
Gross picture; but, I love the message behind it.
Secretary Vilsack, your bus is approaching now - please assume the position!
“There are many individuals still serving in the Department of Agriculture who were responsible for years of discrimination against African American farmers.”
Translation:
So the solution is that OUR racist ‘civil servants’ get to be as racist as they want and still ‘serve’.
Socialist factional racial spoils system. You got your racist licks in using the power of government as your hammer; now it is our turn!
Fixed it.
