Nullification Summit to Focus on States Stopping Unconstitutional Laws
The US Report ^ | 07-20-10 | Kay Day

Posted on 07/20/2010 6:54:35 PM PDT by RepublicnotaDemocracy

States’ rights are in the air, along with a renewed focus on the US Constitution, and The Tenth Amendment Center will hold a summit to inform the public how to “stop federal mandates at the state border.” The Florida Tenth Amendment Summit will be held in Orlando at the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate on 10-10-10—there’s a nice touch of marketing savvy in the selection of that date.

An announcement from TAC pointed out momentum in the states’ rights movement as Virginia, Utah, Idaho and others fight Obamacare. Occupying the top media narrative right now is Arizona’s effort to deal with the federal failure to stem the tide of undocumented aliens. Washington State, Oklahoma and Tennessee are fighting Cap-and-Trade legislation. Those are just a few efforts by the states; others are working to stop the Real I.D. Act and to protect gun rights.

The most effective method is for the people to openly defy, en mass, the unconstitutional acts being perpetrated by this marxist regime, who is illegally occupying the White House.

Is the new book published by Regnery, called Nullification, worth reading, do you know? Saw it in the bookstore.

Not having read it I don't know, but the reviews on Amazon are worth a look. Also, there are any number of good articles on nullification on the Tenth Amendment Center's website and around the web. A good one HERE.

This is the way the LEFT/Progressives see the Tenth Amendment Movement.

“Doomed to Repeat History
The Right Re-embraces Lunatic Legal Arguments from the Past”

http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2010/07/judicial_extremism.html

” Spend a week listening to the right, and you’ll think the founders were all modern-day Tea Partiers. Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) thinks the Constitution forbids Congress to spend federal money on programs he personally disapproves of. Justice Clarence Thomas thinks that the minimum wage, child labor laws, and the federal ban on whites-only lunch counters all violate the Constitution. And of course, everyone on the right thinks that health reform is unconstitutional.

It’s enough to make you think they’re just making it up as they go along. It clearly can’t be the case that every single law cherished by progressives just happens to be unconstitutional.”

Read the rest of the article and you will see how out of touch and afraid of the 10th Amendment Movement they are.

They use the words PROGRESS/PROGRESSIVE to confuse the less educated into thinking that we are a bunch of racisist-hate mongers!

November is coming soon----- God is sending Obama and the Democrats the same message as Belshazzar in the Book of Daniel (Dan 5:25)(MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN)

Is it possible for the following to happen?

A few states secede and create a new union under a new Constitution, modeled after the old one that nobody uses anymore. Then, other states can secede from the “old US” and join the “new US” one by one, basically creating a new nation right under the nose of the old one...(and keeping a few select leftist states out and perhaps inviting Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon to join from Canada if they wish.

Just a thought I had.

Notice how the author of that article lumps “health reform” with whites-only lunch counters and child labor laws. Also he calls it “health reform,” not this particular act.

They are masters of distortion. Lucky for them they are preaching to the stupid choir, otherwise their message would not be heard. I can just see all the little bobbing heads.

Great link. It is good to know the enemies of our liberties. I would love to see a debate between the author, Ian Millhiser and Mark Levin. Millhiser’s outright lies and deceptions are well cloaked in case law and distortions of our Framers.

Levin would flay him alive.

I like it. Honestly, I think separation is the only way a form of the USA that most of us on FR remember and love can survive. Certain states (MA, CA, NY, etc.) and cities (Detroit, LA, etc.) are just too far gone to be saved.

Some keys to a successful “new US” are going to be the ability to have states on the coasts (shipping) and of course to make the borders airtight.

Only federal laws passed based on an enumerated power are the supreme law of the land; the rest are null and void.

The States and the People HAVE AN OBLIGATION to nullify and defy all Unconstitutional federal laws.

The issue of nullification by the states began almost as soon as the Union, with debates about the Alien and Sedition Acts in 1790's. Jefferson and Madison held out the possibility in supporting resolutions in Virginia and Kentucky. They did not succeed, although they offered rationales which were serious and considered.

The possibility of successful nullification today would have to rely on near-unanimity among the states and sheer force of numbers. Most likely it would fail.

But the issue is worth raising and even trying, because it would activate a Constitutional basis for opposing the more fascist of the central government's actions. A serious row just might be enough to wake up the millions of rip van winkles in this country.

I agree.

Most of the states joined the union under the agreement that the federal government would be a constitutional republic with a limited national government.

If one of those states stood up and said that there was no longer a republic, then the original agreement for incorporation would be null and void.

Whether the situation afterwards mirrors Czechoslovakia or Yugoslavia is the big question.
