We are appalled by her actions, just as we are with abuses of power against farmers of color and female farmers.

What about the gay whale farmers?

She gave her speech at least a year ago, while accepting an award from the NAACP. Why didn’t they release this statement within minutes of her speech?

This might very well be the all-time Federal record for shortest elapsed time between the publication of the offense and the “resignation”.

"Racism is about the abuse of power."

Ah. So it is therefore impossible to be racist toward the President of the United States, who is the most powerful person in the world. Thanks, NAACP, good to know.

No need to parse this to find (more) villains. The NAACP did the right thing. For once.

Jealous has made a proper response. That being said, the end paragraphs highlight that he wants more done for farmers who have been denied opportunities. I read that as reparations.

So they are appalled at the dismissal of the voter intimidation case in Philly, right? [ding! you are free to resume disbelief]

Moral equivocation at it’s finest. It is what liberals do best. Too bad we couldn’t market it in brush and paint...we’d have a nation of da Vinci’s.

“The reaction from many in the audience is disturbing. We will be looking into the behavior of NAACP representatives at this local event and take any appropriate action.”

Ok, now I bet you Mr. NAACP President, that if ANY Tea Partier got up and said anything remotely racist like that at a Tea Party, the audience would have acted different, more than likely the speaker would have been booed off the stage.

Whats worse a few racist signs in the audience from some lone racist, and idiots showing up to infiltrate their hateful desires at a tea party. Or a crowd of NAACP members nodding along, laughing, vocally agreeing, without a whimper of protest against a clearly racist speaker?

And what about some of the speakers/”honored” guests they’ve had over the years, aside from this bitch?

Has Calypso Louie addressed them? “Rev.” Wright? What’s the NAACP’s position on racial quotas (i.e. profiling against whites and Asians)?

I bet we could put together a pretty long list of their transgressions.

... her remarks at a local NAACP Freedom Fund banquet.

One wonders why a banquet room full of people so keenly attuned to racism as naacp members did not itself bring this matter to the attention of Ms Sherrod's employers.

One only wonders briefly, though.

To: somebody; Anybody; nobody; Everybody
Are you already a monthly donor to Free Republic? Do you think you've already done enough? Well, I used to feel the same way until I realized the FReep-a-thons were taking longer and longer.

If each monthly contributor kicked in an additional, one-time donation of $20.00, this FReep-a-thon could be over!

EVERYBODY, SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, NOBODY

This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about this, because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Or are you waiting for Somebody Else to do what Everybody should?

farmers of color

Is he talking about indigo, orange and collard greens farmers?

Now I'm holding my breath to see if the NAACP takes on the entire Department of Justice and Attorney General Holder for their failure to criminally prosecute racially based voter intimidation.

There was no objection on the part of the NAACP then, they did not discreetly or publicly strip her of the award following her performance then. They have not said they will take back the award now. I am glad that the NAACP acted swiftly when outed but why must they be outed before they decry the comments as inappropriate?

So, according to their own standards this is a ‘win’ for Breitbart? After all the Tea Party Express/Federation thing was a ‘win’ for the NAACP, or so they say.

"We are appalled by her actions"

Meanwhile, they cheered her "hate whitey" speech and then presented her with an award immediately afterward.

The NAACP has stepped in it, and they are at risk now of losing some big donors because of it.

It’s about damned time BLACK RACISM in America got the exposure it deserves. I’ve been dealing with this crap for 2+ decades.

“The reaction from many in the audience is disturbing. We will be looking into the behavior of NAACP representatives at this local event and take any appropriate action. “

Is this the same NAACP that promoted phony lawsuits against gun manufacturers and called the Tea Party racist? It now seems to be another organization entirely; maybe the reincarnation of Booker T. Washington or someone like him took over from the likes of Kwesei Mfume. In any event, it just went up considerably in my estimation of it.

NAACP deserves a LOT of credit for this statement no matter what else we may think of it. It is an enormous contrast to the behavior of Barack Obama’s church, which gave a standing ovation to Michael Pfleger’s “There were a whole lot of white people crying.”
