Days after the NAACP clashed with Tea Party members over allegations of racism, a video has surfaced showing an Agriculture Department official regaling an NAACP audience with a story about how she withheld help to a white farmer facing bankruptcy -- video that now has forced the official to resign. (snip)
The Agriculture Department announced Monday, shortly after FoxNews.com published its initial report on the video, that Sherrod had resigned.

You’re kidding, aren’t you? It’s in the breaking news sidebar four times, starting at 10:30 this morning (with the video).
I wonder if this is grounds for a lawsuit against her personally by that white farmer.

only if the farmer uses a black lawyer....
Just compare a Google news search for Shirley Sherrod and "Mark Williams" + tea party , and you'll see what is news and what isn't. Sherrod has 8 entries, and Williams has 615.
Yes, it should be. If I was him, I’d sure as hell sue.
Are you already a monthly donor to Free Republic? Do you think you've already done enough? Well, I used to feel the same way until I realized the FReep-a-thons were taking longer and longer. If each monthly contributor kicked in an additional, one-time donation of $20.00, this FReep-a-thon could be over!

This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about this, because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
Or are you waiting for Somebody Else to do what Everybody should?

she really is a grade A idiot
She can always get a job as a poll watcher in Philly.
But there is something else that intrigues me about how she worded this. She implied that there should be a form of segregation established. White people who need help from the Government should go to their own kind. By inference, if a black person seeks help from a black Government official, it will be granted because it is from his own kind.
So for the sake of pouring more gas on the fire, would Sherrod say that black children who want an education should go to the own kind? Black people who need medical care should go to their own kind? Black people who want jobs should go to their own kind? Black people who want to eat in a restaurant should go to one owned by their own kind?
"It sure is gonna be "Green Acres" around here after we win all that money from our lawsuit ..."
what an arrogant ass, to think she could just divulge that bit of information to her peeps...
It’s not just that she’s nasty and racist, her expectation is that everyone else in the room is the same.
The real problem is that she was not wrong.
You’re a little too late for the train. She’s been fired and the NAACP has offered their apologies.
it should be. criminal negligence comes to mind. She failed on numerous levels and is personally culpable. And you can bet her behavior is only the tip of the ice burg. I would say the whole dept.case history should be up for review and criminal investigation. Time for a special prosecutor to get busy.
...she’ll be replaced with someone just as bad or worse....
How would you determine the farmer? I’m sure she did it to more than one whitey. I guess a lot of white folks that dealt with her could potentially have a case.
