As of 10:00 p.m. EDT, hours after Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack fired Shirley Sherrod for racism in her official duties after being exposed by BigGovernment.com there is a near total blackout by the mainstream news media on the scandal.
Sherrod was appointed a year ago by Vilsack to be the Georgia director of Rural Development where she doled out millions of dollars in federal funds.
Just days before her appointment, the Obama Justice Department settled a lawsuit by Sherrod and her husband claiming discrimination against their farm cooperative for a reported $13 million.
A search of Google News and Google Blogs shows nothing form the Associated Press or Reuters. Nothing from Politico or The Hill. Nothing from The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times. Nothing from MSNBC or CNN. Nothing from ABC or NBC. CBS gets partial credit for running a story earlier about Sherrod's racist remarks but has failed to follow up with the story of her firing.
Credit goes to Fox News for reporting the story and updating it with news of Sherrod's termination:
The Agriculture Department announced Monday, shortly after FoxNews.com published its initial report on the video, that Sherrod had resigned.
"There is zero tolerance for discrimination at USDA, and I strongly condemn any act of discrimination against any person," Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a written statement. "We have been working hard through the past 18 months to reverse the checkered civil rights history at the department and take the issue of fairness and equality very seriously."
Sherrod was videotaped at an NAACP dinner in March of this year speaking about an incident where she discriminated against a white farmer while acting in her offical capacity because she is black and is prejudiced against white farmers.
Big Government broke the story with video to back it up around mid-day. The failure of the mainstream media to touch this story even after Sherrod was forced to resign and was publicly rebuked by an Obama cabinet secretary is a shameful example of the censorious nature of the liberal mainstream media.
Not to white folks, apparently.
BTW, Reagan's fault:
The cash award acknowledges racial discrimination on the part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the years 1981-85. (President Reagan abolished the USDA Office of Civil Rights when he became President in 1981.) New Communities is due to receive approximately $13 million ($8,247,560 for loss of land and $4,241,602 for loss of income; plus $150,000 each to Shirley and Charles for pain and suffering). There may also be an unspecified amount in forgiveness of debt. This is the largest award so far in the minority farmers law suit (Pigford vs Vilsack).

Drudge has the story up, as well.
CNN just picked up the story but of course they qualify it with mention of the Tea Party guy saying “People Of Color” in a satiric manner.
Info on the lawsuit here(not sure about the website but it has the statements of all the players):

NAACP Hilary O. Shelton, Director of Washington Bureau and Senior Vice President for Advocacy and Policy:
The NAACP applauds the USDA for taking this crucial step today to finally close what is a painful, but sadly all too pervasive, chapter in our Nations history. We would like to commend President Obama, Secretary Vilsack, Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Dr. Joe Leonard and others for their commitment to seeing that the U.S. Department of Agriculture fully address this significant injustice and allow all who were affected to seek remedy. The NAACP is now committed to partnering with the USDA and the Congress to try to see that the full $1.25 billion requested by President Obama to help resolve the Pigford claims in his FY 2011 budget proposal is fulfilled. We are further committed to working with the Administration and the Congress to try to level the playing field and to prevent future discrimination against Americas farmers.
Man oh Man...they are robbibng this country blind and discriminating against whites and non-black farmers at the same time.
IMPEACH..It’s TIme!
Wrong!. I just did a search on her name and Google turned up lots of stories. Look: http://news.google.com/news/search?aq=f&pz=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&q=Shirley+Sherrod+

Unfreakinbelievable! 1.25 BILLION DOLLARS IS WHAT OBAMA AND HOLDER WANT TO SETTLE THIS RIDICULOUS LAWSUIT?!
Hit the ‘all stories’ link at the bottom of the list and you will see what we are talking about.
c’mon now...CNN has buried it on their international site:

Holder investigate? You are kidding aren’t you. And Pelosi/Reid? Not a chance.
Remember November.
This should counter the Tea Party flap.
Yeh, and aint it ironic that the racist sued and settled a “discrimination” lawsuit!
Fox News ran the video on Greta’s show and said the woman has resigned. It’s also linked on Drudge.
This is the racket. Obama/Holder are making their cash—turning the USA in to Zimbabwe.
CNN was shamed into reporting this - take a look:

It will show that CNN just posted an article about this a few minutes ago.
Why report on some blatantly racist fed goon when you can go after a mild-mannered plumber for daring to question a presidential candidate? Makes perfect sense to me.
Yeah, but did you email Bob Schieffer? He desperately needs help in keeping up with the news. He didn't know about the DoJ and the Black Panthers, nor does he have a clue about the Arizona law. On second thought, don't waste your time emailing Bob; he probably doesn't know what email is either.
