Rep. Walt Minnick (D-Idaho), the only member of his party to receive the backing of the Tea Party Express rejected the group's endorsement Monday citing the controversy over a blog post written by one of its leaders Mark Williams.

A good question since many are trying to co-opt the movement and the name. Walt Minnick is one of the few Dems I support, he has voted agsainst every Obama overspend initiative, including TARP, porkulus and Obamacare.
Thanks, we’ll do the heavy lifting and call you to claim the glory.
If it was meant as satire, it wasn’t funny. If anyone played into the hands of the left, it was Mark Williams himself.
Come on. Specifically, what did you find “disgusting?”
Thank You for posting this to clear up what was a truly frustrating situation!
I Am The Leader Of The Tea Party!
I don’t get what he was trying to do.
Anyway at least some good has come of it. The “TPE” is now free to stop being idiotic and back the proper candidate, the Republican Labrador rather than the rat who had to struggle to hide his contempt for the Tea Party movement.
I’m open to suggestions. And was the damage measured in 1773 dollars? If so, we’d have to destroy the entire GDP.
I missed what MW said - what was so bad?
Here’s an excerpt from the article:
“Williams posted a mock letter to President Abraham Lincoln from Benjamin Jealous, the president of the NAACP. It came on the heels of the NAACPs July 13 passage of a resolution calling on Tea Party leaders to repudiate racist elements of the movement.
The mock letter begins: We Colored People have taken a vote and decided that we dont cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop! “
“Specifically, what did you find disgusting?
The part where he said, even if in jest, that the NAACP wants slavery to be restored.
The NAACP has been on the Dem plantation for some time. They are just another political arm of the Dem party that surfaces near election time to stir up racial hatred and discontent. Williams' satire may or may not have been over the top for some, but it was right on the mark in terms of substance. The NAACP marches in lockstep with the Dems and takes its orders from them. And blacks vote over 90% of the time for the Dems. No other demographic shows such group think and slavish adherence to one political party.
I am a Tea Party member and have participated in numerous events including the 912 march on Washington and will continue to participate in the future. This movement has no hierarchical organization or national leader. I find the self-censorship of Webb and the the Tea Party Federation to be offensive and disgusting. It also sends the wrong message that Williams and the Tea Party Express are racists. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Holy Gullibility, Batman, looks like our side fell for it again. When are we going to grow a collective spine? Our enemies, both foreign and domestic, are laughing at us.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Of course the vast majority of TEA Party members are not racists. That should be quite obvious. The TEA Party is one of the best developments in recent American history. So it's absurd for you to defend the rantings of a man whose posting defamed the TEA Party and played right into the NAACP’s hands. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd conclude that Mark Williams was a plant whose mission was to make the TEA Party movement look bad. At the very least, the TEA Party Express could simply point out that Williams speaks for himself and no one else.
