White House press secretary Robert Gibbs revealed that the White House believes the unemployment rate will remain the same three months from now.
When asked if the White House anticipated on asking for another extension on unemployment benefits in three months, Gibbs said the following: "If the unemployment rate stays where I think we all expect it to, it is, it may be, we may need to extend those benefits."

It is quite possible that the White House has been trying to lower expectations, so that anything that is NOT a debacle comes out looking good! First, if the Democrats DONT get pounded this November, but simply lose, its a moral victory for Dems. Then, if the unemployment rate remains elevated but actually manages to drop a little, it will be a great wictory for the fatherland!
