I’ll wait until they release the video and 911 tapes before condemning anyone.
The cops here are assho1es.
I’m not making any call on this one yet but if I had to give odds....
How will you deal with them, when it’s you or your family ?
The reports I saw had witnesses saying that a cop with his gun drawn tapped him (the deceased) on the shoulder, he turned around, raised his arms and was gunned down by three cops that kept on shooting him after he was down. How would you “deal” with a situation like that?
I agree with your tag line. That is why it pains me so to see it leaving us. . . . . . . Looks like we need to stand up one more time.
Reports are that the cops were screeching conflicting orders.
This guy was screwed.
Ever have a bad day, everthing going wrong? Easy to make a mistake, make the wrong gestures out of anger. I have mouthed off at cops and made rude gestures at them in the past, out of anger. We had bad cops in the past. Thing is, they just beat or harassed you. Now they shoot to kill at the slightest perceived slight.
As I said in other threads, I usually side with the police. I am still not sure with this one.
Yep, these days you have to get on your knees and beg for your life.
Why not the cops failed to learn how to deal with a man with gun call? Two rookie cops and one with a questionable shoot history. You should know better than to make judgements without knowing the facts. Shame on you.
I seriously doubt it.
The more likely scenario is somehow along the way these cops failed to learn how to deal with a nonthreatening civilian with no weapon (at least initially) in his hand, in broad daylight, in a peaceful crowd, with them having overwhelming force and with other less lethal means readily available.
For cryin' out loud. This was not a take down of an MS-13 killer in the barrio, or a squad of Crips crack dealers in a midnight raid, or a riot at 2 AM by outlaw bikers in a biker bar. This was a peaceful individual who apparently was no immediate threat to anybody - as evidenced by the unaware crowd around him and many witness accounts.
It sounds like the cops screwed up, big time. If so, they should be held accountable for gunning down an innocent man - whether in cold blood or through appalling negligence and poor police procedure.
The fact that neither the 911 recording has been released or any video leads one to the conclusion something is dreadfully wrong here. Maybe it will be fully investigated or maybe it will be an attempted cover up. Only time will tell, but the media and the public should demand concrete answers, not just accept an embarrasing or whitewashed shooting by several untrained or trigger happy cops who habitually get away with it in other, more threatening scenarios.
If what apparently happened in this shooting is "standard" police procedure, all of us who are law abiding CCWs should be outraged and afraid. Very afraid.
If witness accounts are accurate, he dealt with them by following their instructions and got shot anyway.
