PHOENIX Two more Latin American countries added their own objections Tuesday to Arizona's new immigration law.
In legal papers filed in federal court, Luis Gallegos, the ambassador to the United States from Ecuador, said his country wants to join Mexico in the fight to convince U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton to block the state from enforcing the law.
Similar to Mexico, Ecuador has a substantial and compelling interest in ensuring that its bilateral diplomatic relations with the government of the United States of America are transparent, consistent and reliable, and not frustrated by the actions of individual U.S. states, in this case, Arizona, Gallegos wrote. He said SB 1070 raises substantial challenges to relations between the two countries.
Gallegos also echoed the fears expressed by Mexico that the Arizona law will affect its citizens.
Ecuador has a substantial and compelling interest to ensure that its citizens are accorded human and civil rights when present in the United States in accordance with federal immigration law, he wrote. Ecuador is gravely concerned that SB 1070 will lead to racial profiling and disparate treatment of its nationals.
A virtually identical brief was filed Tuesday by Jose Perez Gabilondo, charge daffairs in Washington for Argentina.
Gov. Jan Brewer said both diplomats are wrong, both on the issue of racial profiling and the question of Arizona interfering with international relations. And she said both objections ignore the issues and problems of illegal immigration.
The bottom line is America and Arizona live by laws, she said. Brewer said SB 1070 mirrors federal immigration laws, giving state and local police tools to enforce them.
We will continue to live by those laws, she said.
The new legal filings were made in connection with the challenge to the law filed by attorneys for three civil rights organizations.
Piss on them ! It is none of their business !
Ecuador Blows.
I’ve been there.
This is ALL thanks to Obama.
If we had a REAL president, the situation would have never gotten to this point.
The U.S.A. “has a substantial and compelling interest to ensure that its citizens” are safe from any and all invaders and that our sovereignty is maintained at all costs, to include the death of any and all invaders. So, if you wetbacks or any other trespassers don’t like the rules and potential consequences, STAY THE HELL OUT OF MY COUNTRY.
Damn this garbage is making me sick.
Down about 1000 over the next two weeks.
I say the month closes out around 9000 and around 8000 for the end of August. Nothing goes straight down, so, there will be corrections during this period.
Overall, I’d say it could approach 4000-5000 by sometime next year.
Golly, I find their opinions so...unqualified. No...insignificant...no...unsolicited...or...inconsequential..all the above. Definately. All the above.
"Our president would like to hold your balls."
Or, "Our president is your gay friend."
Or, "We hate White capitalists, too."
Or, "Let us pick your lettuce."
Ecuador’s greatest contribution to the US was Lorena Bobbitt and we all know how that worked out!
Yes, Lorena was from Ecuador.
“2 Latin American countries object to Arizona immigration law”
Well, I guess so! Where else are they gonna shove their crap?
“Remember that you read this here, the stock market is going to absolutely collapse over the next 2-3 weeks.....awesome.”
You’re probably right about the market—but the money you make on this probably will be devalued by a 10-1 ratio. Just a guess.
Then they can finally merge the US, Mexico and Canada claiming “they have no choice because we must merge the three in order to consolidate debt and make us more economically viable”—when all along, this was orchestrated for this very purpose.
I remember the case with great detail. I live in the DC area and worked at a law firm in 1993, when the whole Lorena Bobbitt case “went down”...
I do not believe they came up with this idea on their own. They have their own immigration laws, which most certainly include sanctions against illegals, include carrying identification papers and allow their police to ask about the nationality/immigration status of people they stop.
And shouldn't these countries protest US law, since the Arizona law is exactly the same as the US law?
I bet this is more Obama/Democrat Party anti-American agitation, as they demonstrated by applauding the Mexican President's comments in the halls of Congress.
Obama's first tv interview was on Arab language tv. We found out about the lawsuit against Arizona from Hillary being interviewed on Ecudoran tv. And we learn from an Obama interview on South African tv, that al Qaeda is horrible, because its racist in not supplying its African members opportunity and not valuing African life. That has been Obama's sharpest attack on al Qaeda.
Shouldn't the American Obama-mania media get p-o'ed by all the news breaking from this administration on foreign tv networks? Doing the work American tv won't do??
WOW, that’s quite a prediction! I won’t pretend to know enough about the financial systems to argue with you one way or the other but we’ll see how you do.
