When people asked for this newly minted celebrity's autograph, Brown signed his name, followed by the number "41," signifying the critical vote the GOP needed to shoot down the president's signature legislation (healthcare reform).

On Democrats' financial-reform package,Brown surprised even his own party when he decided to vote yes, giving his would-be opponents exactly 60 votes.

We may be better off without him then. Just as we are better off without Specter. If he was going to be the 60th vote for every Obama takeover then we didn’t need him. He should come out with a better position, such as “I was elected by Massachusetts not to rubber stamp every far left bill by this President, but to help prevent extreme legislation like Obamacare and this massive power grab. I will work with the Republican side to help build coalitions to help compromise between the parties. If the legislation is so onesided that we cannot find at least 5 Republicans to support it in this body, then the legislation is not a good one.”
Instead,, we are getting a traitor leftist, as the author pointed out...the new McCain. Massachusetts was not voting for an Obama rubber stamp. That is for certain.

I’m not happy with some of his votes too but everyone needs to get some perspective here: he’s a heck of a lot better than Kennedy or Coakley. Whether we like it or not, there is no way that a reliable conservative is going to win that seat any more than a reliable conservative would win in New York City. He is better than a Dem. In that particular seat, that is all that matters.
A lot of good patriots from MA fought to end slavery in America, and now Brown is reimposing slavery. If Joshua Chamberlain were still alive, he’d probably be the first to march into MA and burn the capital to the ground.

When I think about how criticized I was when this guy was running because I knew he would do this but nobody agreed with me and called me a traitor just makes me wonder about some FREEPERS morals.
We are in for big trouble when we get the majority next year. For a year, FREEPERS have been saying no more RINOs and then we are going to vote in even MORE RINOs. We are getting RINOs from Illinois, Delaware, California, Connecticut, and states that I can't recall. If conservatives think that we are about to bask in greatness because we get the majority, unfortunately that is NOT going to happen. We will be very disappointed next year and years following because we are NOT keeping with our principles. I want a majority too but it does not make sense getting the majority if we are getting Democratic Light which is what it will be.
No, what it will be is an accurate reflection of the electorate. If we think we're going to get orthodox conservatives in places like MA, IL, ME, CA and Washington state, we're just setting ourselves up for disappointment. Heck, we're having a tough time getting Republicans in states like North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia, to say nothing of conservatives.
Despite the fact some 60% of the country describe themselves as conservatives, they really aren't. They may be conservative in how they manage their daily life, but they are MUCH more moderate, politically. How do I know? In 2008 exit polls, 20% of the people who described themselves as "conservative", voted for Barack Obama. Do you know any "conservatives" that voted for Barack Obama?
Orthodox conservatives make up about a third of the electorate. We're delusional if we think we're going to get 60 seats in the Senate. At best, perhaps we can get 36-37 seats, with the balance being made up of moderate Republicans. That's just the political reality, and we shouldn't kid ourselves about.
This "Democrat-lite" moniker is something dreamed up by radio talk-show hosts to fill air time, and to appeal to their base listener. It's patently ridiculous. No one voted for Sherrod Brown in Ohio (one of the most LIBERAL Senators currently serving), because Mike DeWine wasn't conservative enough. And, NO ONE voted for Barack Obama because John McCain wasn't conservative enough. It's a fantasy.
If we can pick up moderate Senators in places like California and Massachusetts, and those Senators only vote Republican 70% of the time, that still 70% more frequently than their predecessors voted Republican.

In 1984, there were 235 million people in the country. Today, there are well over 300 million people in the country. The country is blacker, browner and WHOLLY less white. If you're waiting for 1984 to repeat itself, you're going to be waiting a LONG TIME.

Really? The people of MA don't feel that way. Brown is the most popular politician in the state, by a long shot. The only time Brown used the word "Republican" in his campaign ads, is when it was preceded by the term "independent", as in "Independent Republican", which is EXACTLY what Brown has been.
It pretty clear that the only people who think Scott Brown has "screwed over" the people of MA, are people WHO DON'T LIVE in MA.

Scott Brown is very popular in MA. Whatever he's doing, its working because the scientific polling shows without equivocation, that he's enjoys tremendous support, especially relative to his political enemies.
