PPP: Obama, Palin tied 46/46 in 2012 polling
Hot Air ^ | July 15, 2010 | Ed Morrissey

No, this is not coming from Rasmussen or an internal GOP poll, but from the normally Democrat-sympathetic Public Policy Polling...

With his approval numbers hitting new lows it’s no surprise that Barack Obama’s numbers in our monthly look ahead to the 2012 Presidential race are their worst ever this month. He trails Mitt Romney 46-43, Mike Huckabee 47-45, Newt Gingrich 46-45, and is even tied with Sarah Palin at 46. The only person tested he leads is Jan Brewer, who doesn’t have particularly high name recognition on the national level at this point.

It’s not that any of the Republican candidates are particularly well liked. Only Huckabee has positive favorability numbers at 37/28. Romney’s at 32/33, Gingrich at 32/42, Palin at 37/52, and Brewer at 17/20. But with a majority of Americans now disapproving of Obama it’s no surprise that a large chunk of them would replace him as President if they had that choice today.

There are two things driving these strong poll numbers for the Republican candidates. The first is a lead with independents in every match up. Romney leads 48-35 with them, Gingrich is up 50-39, Huckabee has a 46-40 advantage, Palin’s up 47-42, and even Brewer has a 38-37 edge.

Actually, she's been recognized as the strongest mover in conservative politics.
When she endorses someone, their poll numbers go up.
Sorry, but it's the exact opposite.
She doesn't endorse until the poll numbers are trending for that candidate.
But it's good enough for the people who want to buy into the myth...

The only group she's ever stuck her neck out for consistently is not conservatives or the Tea Party... it's McCain and his band of RINOs.

Case in point, if there was any truth to what you're saying, Palin would have endorsed Chuck DeVore over Carly FioRINO here in California.

Chris Christie is not as conservative as many people outside of NJ seem to think he is.
He’s a lot like Scott Brown.
He’s good on fiscal issues.
He’s better than we though we could get from his home state.
But he’s just not there on all the issues with us.

Your political judgement is obviously clouded by your female emotions.
Our country is heading off a cliff right now. We need to replace 0bama with someone with the right policies and the competence to enact them.
This next election, ladies, you’re going to have to vote for more than just who has the nicest smile, or the dreamiest eyes, or seems like would make the best husband. That’s what got us 0bama, remember?

I think you should vote for me.

I’m conservative, grew up in a “working class” inner-city neighborhood. I started working when I was 15 years old and had a lot of different jobs: waiter, short-order cook, janitor, house-painter, dock-worker. I was a Union member for a while. I worked my way through an Ivy League college (A-minus average)- so I know all about those Ivy League clowns. I spent 15 years in the US Navy Reserve and 3 years on active duty. I’m a Medical Doctor. I managed a 55 doctor, 100 employee practice for a few years. I have acted as the political liaison for a major state medical society for 15 years and was the national representative for that society as well. I’ve been married to the same woman for 34 years and have 2 sons. There are no skeletons. I believe in the US Constitution as written as well as the Bill of Rights.

All of this is true. Alas, I don’t have the money or name-recognition to run, but quite honestly could do a much better job than quite a few candidates the “stupid party” has run over the past few years...

Too close, the Democrats can still steal it.

Anti-woman? Anyone who opposes Palin is now anti-woman? You are now using the playbook of the left when you lose an argument accuse people of all kind of stuff. You Palinstinians are pathetic beyond belief.

Who ever gets the nod will be demonized.

Newt was demonized quite successfully some years ago, but like I said whoever gets the nod will be demonized.

Sarah is the way to go

PSS: You're also a closet Mittbot
I believe Mitt was the candidate who could have defeated 0bama in 2008.
I also believe that now that 0bamaCare is holding America hostage, Mitt is no longer a strong candidate against 0bama for 2012.
Both of these are political calculations.
I support candidates who can win over those who cannot.
That too, is a political calculation.

Not to mention, but the last thing we need is a pro abortion pro/gay guy. And he used to try and sooth us by saying, not to worry...Ted Olson will be in charge of my Supreme Court picks should I win.

Ted is now fighting for gay marriage, poor Barbara is rolling over in her grave

I think all of the above would beat Obama today. That’s why Hillary is going to figure out a way to run.

Too close, the Democrats can still steal it.
With a Palin-0bama tie, the Democrats can and will steal it.
But Newt is the only candidate at the 50% mark.
That means that 0bama could win 99% of the undecideds, and Newt would still win.

But of course undecides break 2/3 for the challenger, which means that it would be 56% for Gingrich, 42% for 0bama, which is a vertiable landslide victory, and an election the Democrats cannot steal.

Newt is the best, safest bet to remove 0bama from office.
I want 0bama out of office a hell of a lot more than I want Palin in office.
I'll go for the safe bet of getting 0bama out of office long before I'll go for the longshot gamble to get Palin in office.
Another 4 years of 0bama shouldn't be worth it to anyone, not even the most ardent Palinstinian.

Take heart from 1980: Reagan was considered a joke also; a buffoon who had to wrestle for the microphone that he paid for during a primary debate. A doddering, old, unelectable fool.

Problem was for his detractors was that he was tough, on message, and with a message that was correct for the times. And blessed with a personality stronger than the empty suits that he ran against. Who exactly fills that bill at the moment.

My only reticence about Palin is not her tenacity or her experience level. (At the moment she is outflanking every American politician alive). No, it is with her tendency to accomodate at times when she shouldn’t. She is not the hardheaded radical that makes up her image; she has a past of going along, and then being somewhat disingenuous about her compromises.

In 2012 (and before), the debt-bomb economic situation is going to call for a hard-nosed veto-pen wielder with an aggressive bombastic style. A conservative stalward under all conditions? Palin? Maybe she’s changed, but anyone who has gone on SNL to muck around with enemies who were savaging her gives me pause.

Well, we are not going to let the old Republican establishment and the Democratic news media pick our candidate this time. They trashed Reagan for years.

Winning at all costs at the expense of conservative principles. Gotcha. People who think like you are a major factor why things are so damn screwed up in the GOP.

Newt is playing Chess, while people like you are playing Checkers.

Yeah, that's a helluva chess move backing Scozzafava over Hoffman. But I forgot, it was Hoffman (according to you) who was in the wrong.

And its people like YOU that create, nurture and ultimately vote for RINOs.

You have a lot of nerve going after Palin when your boy Newt supported Scozza from the get go- and YOU blamed Hoffman for it all. Not to mention Newt's drift to the left ever since his sorry ass left congress in the 90s. Oh, and he didn't win the Gore debate, he said he essentially agreed with Gore. That's not a win. That's a global warming cultist.

And let me remind you, you have also stated- on this thread nonetheless- that you support Romney.

So IOW, you better smell what you're shoveling.

WHY was Rudy dismissed last go round? Too Moderate????

Partially. But he also had some strange strategy where he conceded the first 5 or 6 states and bet the ranch on winning Florida.
