Hoping to lift sagging confidence in President Barack Obama's economic leadership, the White House will make the case on Wednesday that his policies are creating jobs and spurring private investment.
A report to be unveiled at 11 a.m. EDT will estimate that Obama's $862 billion economic stimulus package, which passed last year, has saved or created 3 million jobs and is on track to meet its goal of 3.5 million jobs by the end of this year.
The analysis from the White House Council of Economic Advisers will say that government funding of clean energy, economic development, construction projects and other initiatives is spurring "co-investment" by private-sector firms, according to a U.S. official who previewed the report.

There is positively NO WAY this can be measured reliably.
This assertion by The Obamaniacs is, at best, spin.
More than likely, it is baloney.

I wonder, are they taking any "credit" for the number of jobs they've killed off in the Gulf?

Even if this were true, wouldn’t the tab for each job be over a quarter million dollars?

If the only criterion is “I still have my job” I wonder why he stopped at 3 million. Why not claim he saved 10 million jobs? 15 million? 20?

White House says stimulus saved 3 million U.S. jobsUh-huh. And I saved 40 head of cattle from slaughter by reducing my intake of steak!!
To: tobyhill
Yep, and also the Obama Economics Institute (OEI) just geometrically proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that without the declaration of the U.S. economy would be in a depression, rather than a simple recession. The OEI now scores the Obamunists as having prevented two depressions in a row within a period of just 14 months, a new world record!

The major problem we face here, folks, is that the White House releases this, the media parrots it unquestioningly, and a large percentage of citizens (some who vote) snap it up and absorb it as fact.
We sneer at propaganda, but they apparently don’t.

Perhaps someone here can refresh my memory. I recall hearing that when an organization or business accepted stimulus funds, there was paperwork that had to be filled out. I remember hearing that there were two fields, “Jobs Created” and “Jobs Saved” (or something like that) that the recipient had to fill out.
I think I heard it in the context of a school district administrator (complaining to HIS superior) who had to fill them out, and his attitude was “How the heck are jobs “saved” if the school district hasn’t even threatened any cuts of jobs yet? He couldn’t pass in the forms, and was just told to put numbers in there.
