LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas Metro police on Monday identified the three officers who shot and killed an armed man outside a Costco store in Summerlin.
They are Officer William Mosher, 38, a five-year veteran of the department, Officer Joshua Stark, 28, who has been with the department since September 2008, and Officer Thomas Mendiola, 23, who joined the department in March 2009.

We have them on my commute policing the HOV lane during restricted hours. It is almost a daily occurrence to see 2-3 cars and another 4-5 motorcycles gathered on the side of the road and hand flagging all the HOV violators who stray into the wrong lane. The funny thing is that they literally bring traffic in the HOV lane to a crawl because they end up visually inspecting every single vehicle and waving it through, so the HOV lane usually moves slower than regular traffic. They entirely defeat the purpose of having HOV.
All I needed was reasonable suspicion. If I was told by an officer at a traffic stop to exit the vehicle slowly, with my EMPTY hands clearly VISIBLE, why on earth would I do anything else?
A bad Congressman could ruin you personally and financially...
A bad POTUS can ruin generations to come...
A bad doctor can kill you...
A bad electrician, auto mechanic, and nurse can kill you too...
A bad dentist could also kill you...
I understand standards....as I live under them every day.
I think my point remains........And I do understand yours.
FRegards,
Hmmm...conflicting eyewitness stories. Interesting.
And where do you think he got that description? The cop wasn’t there in the store and didn’t see anything happen. His only information to make the “berserk” claim was what he had been told by the Costco clerk on the 911 call.
“Oscar Goodman’s son is their attorney.”
Interesting running commentary on Las Vegas politics in the notes beneath the article.
But, 99% of LE in my community is focussed on traffic violations. I dont know how they afford so many cruisers and patrol officers, much less justify it.
You just answered your own question. Like a gang of thieves, they fund themselves by sitting on the side of the road and stealing from travelers.
Obviously the "witnesses" who said the police were in the wrong are the only real witnesses, anyone who says anything different must be lying to protect the JACKBOOTED THUGZ KOPZ!!!! OH NOEZ!!!!!! [/sarcasm]
I still want to see the Costco video tapes of him supposedly trashing the store.
“Fortunately, other officers shot the suspect to death before he was able to kill anyone else.”
Careful. There are folks around here that would take issue with your use of the word “Fortunately.”
It just isn’t credible that this particular individual posed any threat to anyone that justified gunning him down.
BTW: That sarcasm wasn’t directed specifically at you, it’s meant for the folks with that libertine mentality.
“stealing from travelers.”
Who are unwilling to obey traffic laws.
And you are in a position to make that judgment... how? Because it fits with what you want to believe? Why should we discount some eyewitness accounts and believe others?
That's what liberals do.
Let’s hope not.
The key moments would be pretty compact as far as a time frame. Mere seconds from the time he exited the store with the rest of the crowd and the time he was repeatedly shot.
The other tape from inside the store that show his behavior are a side issue. Important, but not determinative of whether this was a righteous shooting by the police or not.
Who are unwilling to obey traffic laws.
...most of which are written without regard to any real safety criteria, but rather to trap motorists for explicit revenue purposes.
And then there are motorists who are simply falsely accused by a dishonest cop who knows that the cost of fighting the ticket is higher than the cost of paying it and moving on.
“It seems like some people in this thread conveniently missed some witness accounts. I wonder why that is...”
Because they are cop hating, dope smoking Losertarians?
Question: Would the command “drop the weapon!” when it is NOT in his hand require him “going for his weapon”?
Think in terms of cause and effect.
One police command to “Freeze!/Don’t move!” and another police-command to “Drop the weapon!” really is asking for trouble like this.
I haven’t discounted any of them. The only ones who are saying that he pointed a gun at anyone are the police. I haven’t seen any civilian account that says that. Have you?
