I don’t buy it. California will go looney left for offices and everything else. I will believe otherwise only the morning after.

Here is a little anecdotal evidence that might help you understand the groundswell that is emerging in California.
Jane Dolan of Butte County in Northern Ca is the wife of Bob Mullholland, the James Carville of the California Democrat Party Political machine. She has been a Butte county supervisor for almost 30 years. Never has she had a serious worry about her seat. Her area was gerrymandered to include the very liberal downtown and the whole of Chico State University in Chico CA.
Even in 1994 when the Republicans won control of the state legislature for the first time in 60 years, Jane Dolan won re-election to her county seat very easily.
Our county elections are during the California primaries, which just took place in June. For the first time in 30 years Jane Dolan lost her re-election bid. Not did she just loose, the race was over and projected to be won by her opponent Larry Whall, and ultra conservative. of the poles closing.
Like I said, her seat encompasses all of Chico State University and housing areas, and all of downtown, along with an area of about 30 square miles in the country which consists of Almond and Walnut orchards with a scattering number of residents.
Also Chico is a very liberal city in the midst of a very conservative county. The liberals have controlled Chico City council for a very, very long time, but we even picked up a few conservative seats on the city council, but notr enough to control it. The liberals like to work also and they are looking at 25 to 28% unemployment in the city. Maybe the worse in the state, because the liberals constantly vote against job creating industries, and now it is even worse.
All this is very ominous and makes for the Democrats chances of winning the statewide seat this Fall very slim.
