"Breaking News: BP Lowers Cap Onto Gulf Oil Spill Gusher "
Give him a pass. He gets orgasmic when he talks about holes.
You forgot his second Nobel Prize for saving the world from this economic disaster!
He plugged the HO at least twice, not to mention Mr. Sinclair.
“Obama will now claim how all his hard work and threats to BP worked out for the good.”
revised:
Obama will now claim how all his hard work on the golf course and threats to BP worked out for the salvation of mankind.
The leak sure slowed down a lot.
Video at BP.com
I’m not good enough to do this, but, somebody has to take a screen shot from that video and paste in Zero in a wet suit.
Sealing Cap Installation Animation with Kent Wells - 9 July 2010
First he lowered the oceans.
Now he stopped the lead by the power of his command.
Is this guy great or what?
The well casing is still cracked and there is no way to repair it. They will test the pressure by progressively closing off the cap until they detect seepage from the surrounding Gulf floor. Then they’ll know what they are looking at with respect to the relief well and if there is any potential to top kill and seal it off permanently. That’s all the so called relief well is, a way to get more mud into the bore
I bet the Secret Service won't let him go near it without a safety harness! ;)
Good points. Also the BOP is damaged. We have reports about hydraulic leaks prior to the well going out of control. Reports of the rams firing but not working. And verification that there are two drill pipes that jammed down into the BOP from the platform or riser above as the platform was exploding, catching on fire and sinking. IMHO - They are gambling by increasing the pressure on the BOP, wellhead and well bore. Would be much better to go for near complete collection and not test the pressure until they see if the relief well concept will work. We already have complaints from Dutch Shell that BOPâs plan to flush the relief well intersect section before cementing is risky.
Thank you ... The animated presentation is impressive.
Good old MSM’s reporting no flow, getting it wrong as usual. There’s flow through the intentionally punctured riser a little higher on the stack. That’ll be shut down later. Maybe they’re going for three stories for the price of one. First, the success story, then the “serious problems” story when somebody finally looks up the stack a little, then finally the “overcomes initial problems” story when the sequence that was planned in the first place is finally completed.
The moment where the cap dropped into place and there was noting, nada, nicht, coming out from under it was special. The special special moment will be if they shut all the valves and the pressure holds, or if they can’t but the only flow is to the vessels above. One or the other should happen within the next couple of days.
Obviously the Obama administration and its Fascists partner BP are gambling and trying to get the politically expedient solution and not the scientifically sound solution. That was why the MSM got the story wrong today. They took the Obama/BP propaganda. Hook, Line and Sinker. Obama and his partner BP need to claim some type of success. My guess is that the Obama administration is pushing these flat out false stories.
Sorry, folks, this is a misleading headline.
Capping a well usually means there is NO flow.
This is just another box (”cap”) put over the top with a hole in it.
Oil still coming out that has to be collected or cleaned up.
The device they just put on can, in fact, have all of it’s connections sealed. They plan to do that tomorrow, and then monitor the pressure.
If the pressure increases to what they expect, they will have in fact stopped the leak and they will be “done”, alhtough they will still use mud to shut down the well.
If the pressure does not increase as much as they expect, that will indicate that there are leaks in the well. In that case, rather than taking the chance of the well being further compromised, they will open up the connections again, and then connect collection risers to process the oil until they cna do the relief well bottom kill.
