NEW YORK (AP) -- New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says it would be un-American to investigate a mosque that is planned for construction near where the World Trade Center once stood.
Bloomberg was asked Monday about GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Lazio's demands last week that Democratic rival Andrew Cuomo investigate the mosque being developed near the Sept. 11 attack site.

Apparently, self-preservation is unAmerican. All mosques should be monitored for political activity. Monitor the churches and synagogues if you have to, but it will be boring, as they are religious institutions.

If the billionaire mayor is that clueless and that willing to play the PC game in this instance, he is not fit to hold public office. New York City is famous for being politically liberal - but this is ridiculous. I cannot believe that Bloomberg's views reflect those of a majority of New York City residents. Well, I hope not, anyway, because this is insane.
