Are The Children Of The Russian Agents U.S. Citizens???
7/11/10 | self

I’ve been trying to figure this out …

The 14th Amendment declares that anyone born in the US and under its jurisdiction is a citizen. But what about the children of the Russian spies, are they citizens?

Those that claim that they are citizens say that the 14th Amendment declares it so and that the only exceptions to U.S. jurisdiction are the children of ambassadors and children of enemies. But these children’s parents did not fall under those exceptions. They were not ambassadors [or have diplomatic immunity], nor is Russia a declared enemy of the U.S. They just did not properly register with the U.S. as Russian agents. Thus, the parents were illegal aliens.

If the government decides that the children of the Russian agents are not citizens because of this lack of proper registration, then are “anchor babies” of illegal aliens [mostly Hispanic] also not citizens? Their parents also have not registered with the U.S.

I NEVER EVER said the issue had been decided.

What is wrong with you? You are making something out of me merely saying I heard something or read something.

NEVER did I say it was decided.

And then you drag in Apple. Too late in NC? LOL!

I read an article addressing this issue. They are and will be allowed to stay, or go.

Have you changed your mind since you wrote this? Seems you thought Ms. Spinak at Columbia had jurisdiction over the matter fifteen minutes ago.

You’re a very strange one, BunnySlippers.

What do you think “uh-huh” means?

I think the 14th amendment is quite clear on this issue, born here, citizenship granted.

IMO, it will require a SC ruling, which in my mind would be
rewriting the amendment, indicating those born here of parents in an illegal status are the equal of those born of a foreign enemy or ambassador. I frankly don’t see that happening as those who are liberal on the court would never go for this and the strict constructionists would probably join them. The best course of action, don’t let them in.

Does anyone recall reading if the spies had voted while in the US?

It has nothing to do with where the parents were born or their status (except for diplomats accredited here.) We provide birthright citizenship via jus solis. Over 400,000 anchor babies are born to illegal aliens each year. They are citizens of the US entitled to all the benefits including health care (Medicaid) and food stamps.

Why not? The children of illegals are declared to be citizens- even the children of criminals here illegally...That is exactly why we need to change birth citizenship ASAP.

Prolly. some of them were naturalized citizens - and just got stripped of their citizenship the other day ...

BTW: They all paid taxes - so do they get Social Security when they retire [in Russia] ???

AOL rarely gets it right. No lawyers or any professionals on their staff.

No, foreign spies are unregistered agents of a foreign country and their children would not be 14th Amendment citizens.

Agreed.

It wasn’t just AOL ... I’m almost sure it was ABC News, again, an abomination. Regardless, it was never my personal opinion.

Good day.
