"Stalinism" is a useful term for the totalitarian left -- even to the left itself. It's one word they haven't been able to chew up, gulp down, and transform into its opposite. They still know what "Stalinist" means, even after generations of new names for the same community agitators: "The New Left," "hippies," "Black Panthers," "youthful radicals," "idealistic students," "feminists," "the workers," "black nationalists," "Third World socialists," "the wretched of the earth," "Green Party," "Gay activists," "LGBT," "Global Warming," "peace and freedom party," "eco activists," "civil rights campaigners," "post-modernists," "gender studies," "J Street," "Bolivarismo," "ACORN," "undocumented workers," "Moveon.org," "Liberation Theology" -- there must be hundreds and hundreds of front labels for the Same-Old, Same-Old. They make up new ones all the time. This year's fashionable lefty cult is called ... "progressivism!"

I think the author's value added contribution to the subject comes from his resolute insistence on calling evil, evil.

I had been unfamiliar with James Lewis' work and went to Google which sent me on to a list of his articles appearing in The American Spectator, which one can find here:

The significance of calling evil, "evil" is that it takes on the critical theory of cultural Marxism head on. The author repudiates or relativism and it is relativism which is the WD-40 used by the left to lubricate the threads of its dissimulation. Those Freepers familiar with the machinations of The Frankfurt School will instantly recognize the modus operandi.

If one looks at the list at the link provided he takes on a Elena Kagan for her support of partial-birth abortion which is really nothing less than baby murder. A decent man, and James Lewis evidently is a decent man, cannot cloak himself in the rationalizations and relativism used to justify baby murder.

We need more of this kind of writing which takes on the left for what it is, a thoroughly unredeemed evil.

We need to remind everyone that these leftists cheered for Ho Chi Mihn, Castro, Allende and the Soviet Union. They carried around “The Little Redbook” as their bible, written by mass murderer Mao. And they were pleased when Pol Pot implemented communist agrarian reform in Cambodia and totally silent when the Khmer Rouge murdered 3 million of their countrymen.

Calling American leftists Stalinists is appropriate, but I like calling them Nazis just to watch their heads explode. And the word is on point for some of them.

Wow, this James Lewis guy routinely writes excellent stuff but this is one of his best.

We really are up against something pretty nasty in the Left. The Left is the perfect storm — motivated by the highest ideals yet fully committed to immorality as a means of realizing them (which by the way is another similarity it has to its antipode/twin, radical Islam). The result, in the worst case, is 100 million dead and human skulls piled two stories high. In the best case, it’s the creation of intractable racial and class grievances and a media that never quite tells the truth.

First we'd have to take the time to educate them on exactly who these people were. They are not and have not been learning it for decades.
