Wilders is right, as is Spencer.
The biggest problem with people in Europe and America is they are totally ignorant of Islam, period. If they spent the least amount of time reading up on its tenets, it’s history, it’s interaction with all other faiths/cultures, they’d figure out in an hour it is a poison, cancer, anathema to all matters related to Judeo-Christian culture and society. I attended a college graduation party and was speaking with several adults in attendance, all college educated, including advanced degrees, in law, business, etc. And almost none of them understood anything about islam, it’s history, etc. I was shocked at first, but they were more shocked (and possibly disbelieving) after an hour conversation on the subject. I said you don’t have to believe me, just go to any library or online and look it up. It’s all there. Open your eyes and see, before you lose your head.
I posted this snippet of an interview with Niall Ferguson earlier on a dead thread; it’s from 2006:
IDEAS: How do you understand radical Islamism? Is it, as some say, the successor to Marxism?
FERGUSON: It is. The great category error of our time is to equate radical Islamism with fascism. If you actually read what Osama bin Laden says, its clearly Lenin plus the Koran. Its internationalist, revolutionary, and anticapitalist-rhetoric far more of the left than of the right. And radical Islamism is good at recruiting within our society, within western society generally. In western Europe, to an extent people underestimate here, the appeal of radical Islamism extends beyond Muslim communities.
IDEAS: To people who might once have been drawn to Marxism?
FERGUSON: And for much the same reason. Here is a way to reject the impure, corrupt qualities of western life and embrace a monotheistic zealotry. Thats very satisfying.
IDEAS: Why is Europe more vulnerable than the United States?
FERGUSON: The United States has at least two religions, one being religion per se, the other being the civic religion of the Constitution. These are powerful integrative forces. To become an American is a transformative experience, and Im impressed by it. It doesnt happen in Europe. Immigrants remain deeply alienated, plus theyre not integrated well into the economy. And thats a dangerous situation

I’ll make the point again. When Muslims assert that Islam is a “religion of peace” they are not engaging in al taqqiya, they are making an assertion in good faith.
The problem lies in the fact that Islam has a defective concept of peace. In semitic languages like Arabic, the consonants are the “root” of the word: islam = submission, and salam = peace have the same root, slm.
The only concept of peace in Islamic jurisprudence is the peace between the conqueror and the conquered, between master and slave. There is no concept of a negotiated peace between nations in Islamic law (and note that law is the defining property of Islam—their clerics are jurists, schools of Qu’ranic interpretation are called fiqh, a legalistic term)—Muslims may negotiate a “hudna” or armistice of limited duration with non-Muslim, but not a definitive enduring peace.
It’s sad that there has to be a symposium to consider whether Geert Wilders may be right. Clearly he is right. And clearly, George Bush and others to the contrary nonwithstanding, Islam is no religion of peace. It is a religion of terror and death.
Ignorance is not bliss in regard to the threat we face from Islam. And having “leaders” who ignore the threat, or even deny it, is outrageous.
The left hate Wilders because they assume he is wrong.
The political left *know* that Islam and Muslims are inferior. They *know* this with the same arrogance that they *know* American blacks and Jews are inferior as well. Democrats have always been racists, and they have mastered the ability to both retain that racism, and pretend to be the opposite, at the same time.
The elitist idea allows them to group people together, and equate the different groups. But at all times, the elites remember that they are better than anyone.
So they have no internal conflict in supporting the US military at the same time they support the terrorists. They are equal, and equally inferior. If they kill each other, small loss, in the eyes of the Democrats.
“might be right”? Open your eyes people don’t be afraid to look at the truth.
Great post. Thanks. Great comments at FR and at the link.
