Amnesty Will Cost U.S. Taxpayers at Least $2.6 Trillion [Flashback to '07]
Heritage Foundation ^ | June, 2007 | Robert Rector

Posted on 07/10/2010 3:42:26 AM PDT by T.L.Sink

[Flashback] Robert Rector of Heritage discussed the most comprehensive, detailed and objective study of the illegal alien crisis ever done. His conclusion was that the social, economic and political consequences of the massive illegal invasion, if not curtailed, will result in the collapse of the whole American cultural infrastructure in about 20 years. His research caused a sensation. He appeared on C-Span, numerous media outlets, and talk radio shows. His study was quoted in the Senate when the issue of comprehensive immigration (a/k/a amnesty) was being debated. Most notewothy is the fact that NONE of the open-borders advocates nor the proponents of amnesty could factuallly repudiate his data. All the facts that he compiled to make his extrapolations are right now on-target and coming to fruition.

Right - I think most people think of deportation as rounding up 11+ million people. The fact is that if we enforce our laws the illegals will self-deport and the flood of illegals coming in will dry up.

IIRC, Eisenhower's 'Operation Wetback' began with physically deporting illegal aliens; once the rest realized the US was serious, the bulk of them self deported.

The real number of illegals in the US is closer to 30 - 40 million at present.

I think the metaphor works in part because the image is of something violent attacking the cubs. This is something mothers understand, whether or not they are involved in wildlife. Palin is letting mothers know, that there is something, not quite in focus that is malevolent and shadowy, just out of sight at the edge of our vision, that is a deadly serious threat to their children. And it IS coming for them. Get angry now, fight now, because as Brave Heart said, (among others) FIGHT NOW, while you have the capacity to fight, while you have the will, the desire, the fury. Don't let the day come, when in your old age, you wish with all your being you could trade all those tomorrows to come back to fight TODAY!

The metaphor also works in part because if the women are genuinely afraid, the men will come around, and because it is a just cause, they will fight any threat to the death. The key, and I hope Palin can tap into it, is that the women MUST let the men know that no matter what, they will support them. The women HAVE to let the men know, that they will not stand silent as their men are verbally and physically threatened. Threaten one, threaten all. Fight one, fight all. No more playing nice.

I think throwing accusations of racism at Buchanan plays along with the standard method the left uses to discredit those who do not tow their line.

I've defended Buchanan. In 2000 I debated for Buchanan. I agree with him on immigration.
However, since September 11, 2001 Buchanan has repeatedly shown himself to be utterly fixated on Jews and Israel. He is the one who discredits any issue he touches, not the other way around.

Exactly right. Heritage guesses there are about 20 million and increasing daily. The fact that we DON’T EVEN KNOW how many illegals (and terrorists?) are within our own borders tells the whole story. It’s totally out-of-control. To make matters even worse, Congress doesn’t even have the will to enforce its own laws! For example, it’s found every excuse to delay or stop building the border wall - even though it’s a documented fact that where the wall is erected illegal crossings have virtually ceased. By failing to enforce the law they’ve made joke of the law. And the best example of that is refusal to enforce federal anti-illegal immigration laws - which is why Arizona was forced to take action.

It’s worse than we can imagine. The next generations are already in hock and will lucky if they can even pay the INTEREST on this debt. The party’s over but Omama and his party keep finding ways to spend more billions. All economists (including those in Europe who just tried to tell Obama this) know that our debt/GDP ratio is unsustainable. They also warn us that the Obama solution of printing money and borrowing will result in out-of-control inflation and devaluation of U.S. currency internationally.

I think you make some good points. Palin, personally and professionally, has proved she’s a fiscal conservative, pro-life, and for a strong national defense. What drives the left crazy is that she expresses her views in a colorful, no-spin way that all people can readily understand. By the way, if you want an example of how she drives liberals crazy, check out MSNBC where Matthews, Olbermann, and Maddow are obsessed with their “hate-and-trash Palin” script. She obviously scares the hell out of them.

I never even remotely implied racism but Pat has been roundly condemned by conservatives for his anti-Semitic remarks. For example, on Fox Bill Bennett discussed this quality. And, by the way, anti-Semitism isn’t necessarily based on race but a multitude of other factors.

Right, as I said to another FReeper, Pat has some good qualities but he has a long and well-documented history of anti-Semitic remarks. Don’t take my word for it - just see how most Jews perceive him on this matter. I can give an example right here in Palm Beach County that illustrates it.

The true culiprit is socialism not immigration, Rector’s analysis doesn’t get to the root of the issue.

Somebody tell me again how amnesty or worker ID’s will stop drug runners and criminals from crossing the border.

It will be the costliest (to the American Taxpayer) voter registration drive for the Democrat Party in US History.

That they would even suggest that that all of the 20 million illegals become NEW Liberal voters is TREASONOUS to this country.

2.6 TRILLION!!!???

Good Lord what these idiots won’t do to retain political power in the country?!!!
