Governor Palin's Plan for Illegal Aliens (vanity)
07/09/2010 | sinanju

Posted on 07/09/2010 8:33:42 PM PDT by sinanju

My opinion of Sarah just took a dent. She was on Bill O'Reilly's show and he quizzed her about her opinion, in his overbearing fashion, on how to deal with the illegal alien problem.

I'm afraid it seemed instantly obvious that either she has not spent five minutes looking into the issue and talking to people who actually know something about the problem or she has and is keeping her real plans secret a la Chris Christie.

She did not bring up any specifics or actual ideas and plans and basically let Blowhard Bill lead her around by the nose for seven minutes. They then concluded with some meaningless cheery sentiments about the mama grizzlies and concluded. BOR moved on.

I realize she is busy building up chits playing kingmaker and tweeting and all that but I would like to at least see and hear some evidence that she is doing some serious policy formulation and (if she does run for prez) will have a battle plan on day one.

Appearing on Bill's show for barely enough time to smile and chirp for less than ten minutes is decidedly discouraging to people like myself, who desperately want to take her seriously.

"So you've closed the borders, now you have ten million people sitting here looking at you, what are you going to do about them?" "Make them register?"

"Well, I, uh.."

She should not have set herself up like that. Bill barely gave her enough time to recite the Pledge of Allegiance but she could have gotten her message across if she had had a message.

Not good.

Frankly, statements like those are what makes her the laughing stock of the left. Unfortunately, her supporters have mistaken the negative attention she gets as fearful opposition. If 2012 were a popularity contest or a beauty pageant, she probably could win...but it’s not...she doesn’t stand a chance against Obama.

If Palin wanted to clear all this up she could do it easily. She could have a news conference of her own and explain herself. Going on any show on FOX is just another bunch of talking heads gathered around the Hors d’œuvre table - except for Beck, of course.

Please, She did solid....I saw it live.

Given the circumstances - 6 minute time-frame and BORs crappy attitude, Sarah did as well as she was allowed to. Move on

Here’s what she advocated: 1. Do whatever it takes to secure the border - employing as many troops as necessary to secure the border while the fence is completed. 2. Give illegals a time period to register their presence. 3. Those who do not register will be deported. 4. Regarding those who register, anyone here must be employed. Registration is not the same thing as amnesty. She referenced the number of American citizens who are currently unemployed and stated that Americans must have the first opportunity to fill those jobs. 5. She did not support amnesty. She said we must learn from Reagan’s mistakes

So then Americans get the first opportunity to get jobs, the illegals get the second opportunity and those who wish to immigrate to this country legally, who don't break the law and wait their legal turn outside the country are last on the list.

That's amnesty.

What the heck does that even mean?

Employers would have to track and report all job applications by citizenship status. After a yet to be determined threshold is established, the employer would have to offer the job to the "registered" illegal alien only after all qualified applications by citizens and green card holders had been processed and rejected, and/or after a given period of time had passed without the receipt of applications from citizens or legal residents. The clock would begin running upon proof of publication for the position offered, which would have to be published in a federally acceptable media of recognized general circulation. Federal standards for acceptance and rejection of such applications would have to be established and administered by agency regulations written pursuant to the as yet non-existent statutes. Any hire not compliant with the new federally approved rules and not approved by the appropriate federal agency would be subject to fine and/or criminal prosecution. For example, if the employer did not give the job to a federally approved and qualified citizen applicant, the employer could go to prison. On the other hand, if an employer refused to hire a registered illegal alien when no qualified citizen applicants were available, the employer could also go to prison.

Every new hire would be subject to review by the agency charged with regulating all American employment practices. If either a citizen, legal resident or "registered" illegal alien objected to a specific hire, that hire would be stopped pending an agency review and protest decision. Where the bypassed employee disagreed with the agency determination, appeals could be made to the GAO or the local federal district court, except where a diversity of citizenship/residence issue was raised and a change of venue was permitted.

Many bureaucrats would be needed.

This is the ad that caused me to listen to KFI, Los Angeles online, instead of

AM 550 Phoenix or

AM 790, Tucson

These are the 2 biggest conservative talk show stations in Arizona

This ad started running in March.

At least we can count on Maverick John until November 10, then he’ll either be mercifully gone or back up to his old tricks.

And was it just me, or did Sarah’s voice in that campaign spot sound irritatingly slow, like she was addressing a room full of retards?

Can't never could do anything. Where there is a will there is a way. Enforcing the law is neither illegal nor unconstitutional.

They don't get welfare, medicaid or food stamps in Missouri. Just the knowledge that immigration law will be enforced in Arizona has caused many to leave, according to the news.(course always take the news with a grain of salt).

Besides, it doesn't have to be overnight. Just check them out when they are encountered for some other reason. Sanctuary cities are unconstitutional and illegal-just one more thing the feds have failed to enforce.

Crack down on the employers. No jobs means less attraction.

Well, based on what she’s said on other interviews, I stand (more or less) corrected.

I’d just like to get my hand around the throat of whatever campaign aide convinced her to let Bill O’Reilly bully her. It looked really bad.

That’s not the Sarahcuda I’m looking for.

Before the moral high-horses rode in here we even supported Gingrich. And Ron Paul was as respected almost as much as Ron Reagan. And ole GW Bush was called a cokehead by the site owner. Wee Willy Kristol was called the globalist neo-con that he is by the majority here then...And nation building wars were frowned on severely. If conservatism means the preservation of conservative institutions and the ideas that created them...we must ask if we have wandered off that path.

Um, the same Newt that shared a couch with Pelosi to promote global warming legislation?

The same Ron Paul who (among other moves that require one to decide whether he is crazy or merely a weasel) recently bedded down with Barney Frank to explain why we should cut the military in a time of war? The same one who voted for the 2001 military authorization even though it was blatantly worse than the Iraq war autorization by his own standards?

The same Jim Robinson who said in this post that his characterization of Bush as a cokehead was sarcastic and meant to mock a newspaper writer's assertions? (BTW, I'm not pinging JimRob to tattle, I'm pinging him in case he wants to clarify YET AGAIN for the benefit of the clueless.)

You mean the Kristol who is still mocked as a globalist neo-con in virtually any thread that mentions him?

You mean the "nation-building wars" we embarked on after hirabist scum delivered over a kiloton of combat power into office buildings in our cities on a Tuesday morning, killing at least two Freepers we know of?

You mean Bob Barr of the ACLU, Bob Barr the Libertarian nominee, Bob Barr who is against wiretapping terrorists? You know, one of those guys who thinks fighting them over there is wrong but so is detecting them over here before they can strike? The guy whose rules, if applied in Britain, would have failed to prevent the Heathrow Bomb Plot and cost somewhere around 3,000 people their lives? That guy? Oh, and we're judging conservatism now based not on ideology, but on whether someone realizes it's illegal to perjure oneself? Really?

Scratch a Freeper who says we no longer stand for conservatism on this site and you'll finds a BS merchant. Of course, some of y'all are so far from Clueville that you don't even know you're pushing BS, so you have that going for you.

Though I’m a Palin supporter, I will be bookmarking your post, and here’s why: It is a perfect example of the difference between criticism of Palin and PDS.

Some folks around here should take notice, but I won’t ping them because they’re as likely to learn as the libs who say all criticism of Obama is race-based are.

Correction. He "bedded down" with Barney Frank (just like many here "bedded down" with Joe "Obamacare" Lieberman in support of world policing) in a common cause of cutting "the military in time of OBAMA'S war." Fixed

She wouldn't give any hint of how many people she would put on the border or how the fence would be "completed."

Yes, that level of detail is certainly needed from a person who isn't running for President and wouldn't serve for another 30 months if she was elected, especially in a few minutes of TV interview time with a blowhard who will barely let her talk.

You remind me of the President saying "Where are their ideas for health care," when Republicans dared suggest his plan didn't rock hard. Moreover, you're trying to have it both ways. You and your crowd don't have to name anyone you might support because they're not running yet, but a politician who is also not running yet has to have a completely detailed immigration plan, down to the composition and number of military forces and the exact length of building projects and timelines for mass deportation.

There are some very good conservatives out there who know all about the issue and have great ideas.

Forming a “commission” to come up with a solution is what pols do instead of taking action. As far as negatives are concerned, she’s not supposed to be selling herself as a limpd**k chameleon. She should be pissing off the right people and not pandering to anyone. It is counterproductive to pander to you sworn enemies in any case. All you win is their jeering contempt on top of their hatred.

This has been a burning issue for some years now and she’s had plenty of time to put together a game plan.
