My opinion of Sarah just took a dent. She was on Bill O'Reilly's show and he quizzed her about her opinion, in his overbearing fashion, on how to deal with the illegal alien problem.
I'm afraid it seemed instantly obvious that either she has not spent five minutes looking into the issue and talking to people who actually know something about the problem or she has and is keeping her real plans secret a la Chris Christie.
She did not bring up any specifics or actual ideas and plans and basically let Blowhard Bill lead her around by the nose for seven minutes. They then concluded with some meaningless cheery sentiments about the mama grizzlies and concluded. BOR moved on.
I realize she is busy building up chits playing kingmaker and tweeting and all that but I would like to at least see and hear some evidence that she is doing some serious policy formulation and (if she does run for prez) will have a battle plan on day one.
Appearing on Bill's show for barely enough time to smile and chirp for less than ten minutes is decidedly discouraging to people like myself, who desperately want to take her seriously.
"So you've closed the borders, now you have ten million people sitting here looking at you, what are you going to do about them?" "Make them register?"
"Well, I, uh.."
She should not have set herself up like that. Bill barely gave her enough time to recite the Pledge of Allegiance but she could have gotten her message across if she had had a message.
Not good.
Ping!
That’s what really got me. She was letting BOR write her policy for her on national television. WTF!? Of course “registration” is the latest code word for amnesty.
This has been a burning issue for years, especially with conservatives. There is simply no excuse for her not coming out of the gate with a straightforward set of actions to be undertaken on day one of her administration.
She’s had plenty of time to get together with the real experts on this problem and formulate a policy.
And letting Blowhard Bill walk all over her was ridiculous.
This would establish an environement where a large number, perhaps most, would self ddeport, that leaes you free to go after any others who do not register, and then deal with those who do becuase nnow you know who they are and where they are. She also made it clear she would do whatever it took to enforce the border..."whatever it takes."
I was perhaps not elated, but pleased with these statements and the potential meaning behind them.
Having said that, she need to formulate a specific plan that speaks to the issue in detail and in no uncertain terms.
I believe Sarah would route the marxist in 2012.
I’m not saying every idea Palin has on this issue is top drawer. What I’m saying is that a roundup of 12 million people is not going to happen.
Let me add this: Only fools believe our choice is between weak immigration policy and mass deportation. Shut down the amusement park and most of them will leave withing months on their own.
...break up the old boy network...It is an honor to call her a sister. . . America, this is what a feminist looks like.

“Wow, and thank you too Shelly for that kind introduction, and thank you so much for your endorsement, and with your help, Shelly, in November, all of us, who consider ourselves progressive, yet at the same time we can be conservative, we’re gonna shatter the highest, hardest glass ceiling in America.
I was looking at Shelly’s resume before I came out here and I thought ‘Woo, there’s some diversity! I like this, it’s good.’ And, because, maybe this is the only time that I would get an endorsement like this, or an introduction, I’ve gotta share with you, it’s like kinda providential, yesterday what happened to me, I can use this today after that introduction from Shelly, I’m readin’ on my Starbuck’s mocha cup, okay, the quote of the day? You’ll never believe what the quote was. It was Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State, and U.N. Ambassador. And Madeleine has as her quote of the day for Starbuck’s now she said it, I didn’t she said, ‘There’s a place in hell for women who don’t support other women.’
Okay, now thank you so much for receiving that well. I did’t know how that was gonna go over. And now, California, let’s see, what a comment like I just made, how that is turned into whatever it’ll be turned into tomorrow in the newspaper.”
(According to CBS News Scott Conroy, Palin got the quote slightly wrong. Albright actually said, There is a place in hell reserved for women who dont help other women.)

That interview sounds to me like she is in favor of a real fence and border security for the whole southern border
and some sort of path to citizenship for the (however many there are here or by then) illegals....which is amnesty lite....though she is on record being against instant amnesty like Magnus unfortunately granted
period.
that could change though I guess
conservatives have zero ..absolutely zero...to gain from granting citizenship to another 12-35 million Democrat voters and their families who will stream in and everything to lose...we will become Brasil just sure as hell
she’d better get that memo
i’m not sure any GOP pol in the running for POTUS has the balls to say deport them all period...anyone saying that?
that is amnesty lite susan and the number of illegals is arguably way more than 12 million...probably over twice that
you give them citizenship and then their families stream in
have you looked at California?
it used to be a solid conservative Golden State....now it’s latino quagmire and a reliable huge Dem electoral vote
this will doom America
these are not Irish and Jews and Polish waves
it’s just different and folks won’t face that fact
...”she didnt want to say anyone still here would get amnesty for the same reason. Something she said about being uncomfortable discussing it.”
gee, I wonder why?......SEE MY TAGLINE
“But its not fair to the illegal aliens, either, here. They want to come pursue an American dream. Some of them do want to be here to work. But theyre forever going to have to hide because, you know, governments going to crack down on them when (INAUDIBLE)
So they need to follow that path of legal citizenship, obviously.”
Gee....whaah, whaah, whaah, cry me a river....she sounds exactly like Juan McCain!
Anyone who hasn’t yet figured out Palin’s position on the matter is simply brain dead. Bottom line...those who make excuses for her simply need to admit that they would rather see her elected, even if it means giving illegal aliens amnesty. And yes, a PATH TO CITIZENSHIP for illegal aliens IS AMNESTY.
Yeah....Duncan Hunter did...and he got blacklisted by the media and the GOP because of it.
I couldn’t agree more.
Oh my...that’s the least gotcha gotcha I’ve ever seen on this site. Sad indeed.
What the heck does that even mean? Sounds like Palin was stepping all over her tongue.
How would she make it hard for them to be here if she would not "make it easy"?
What does "American citizens who are here lawfully..." mean? Is there such a thing as an American citizen here illegally?
Q: If Palin is such kickass presidential material, then why can't she assert herself better against Bill O'Reilly?
A: She's a lightweight.
Sadly, some people just don’t, or more properly won’t, get it. No matter what she says, all they hear coming out of her mouth is the stuff they disagree with, not the 95% she agrees with real conservatives on. No matter what’s in her record, all they will remember is the gay marriage veto and the resignation. No matter what firebreathing conservatives she backs in elections, they will only care about the fact that she doesn’t hate Captain Queeg with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns.
It’s the conservative version of all those nice folks in 2008 who couldn’t hear anything out of Barack Obama’s mouth but “hope and change” or pay attention to any association he had other than celebrities.
Read post 18.
Doesn’t look like fence-straddling to me.
All I have to say about Palin today.

BOR is an Obama supporter? Who knew?
I am loving those magazine covers. Laughed out loud at every one.
