As always, gun control proponents say they merely want "reasonable" gun control laws. Yet, when listing the actual laws they favor, they go well beyond what most people would possibly consider "reasonable." Just look at the gun bans in Chicago and Washington, D.C. that local politicians and gun control organizations such as the Brady Campaign and the Violence Policy Center have fought to protect.
Last Friday, just days after the Supreme Court struck down Chicago's handgun ban, Chicago enacted strict new gun control laws. These new restrictions surely do not seem "reasonable" but rather intended to make life as difficult as possible for those who legally want to own a gun. Among the regulations is a complete ban on selling guns in Chicago. Also five hours of training is required, which may seem reasonable, but that training is forbidden to take place within the Chicago city limits.
And the list of odd restrictions in Chicago goes on. While people can own a handgun for protection in their homes, it only applies to some parts of what most people would consider their home: the gun cannot be used for self-defense in one's yard or garage, nor on your porch, even if it is enclosed. . . .

Laughing I was thinking the same driving to the office today.
I thought I would ask John Semmons if he could do satirical piece along these lines
Journalists don't love the First Amendment. What they love is themselves; they think they are "the press" - even tho books, for example, are obviously covered by the term "the press."
That matters because what they actually go for, in unconstitutional "laws" like McCain-Feingold, is not rights for all but special privilegesfor themselves.IOW, they want "the press" to be considered a title of nobility exclusively for themselves. And they expect to define who is "a member of the press"" and who is not.
Just to think that Chicago has a crime problem now, just wait.
'scuse me for buttin' in, and the day late comment - but I do.
Grwoing up in Chicago and having a friend who went to HS with Daley (De La Salle) its because ..
Okay, all joking aside. I think its because he got his butt kicked almost every week in the Locker Room after Gym Class(1). So now that he has POWER, and a lot of POWER, he's getting 'even' with all those phantom bullies who occupy his empty skull.Daley has a small wee-wee.
And a gun is a phallic symbol (per that Austrian dude, Sigmund Fraud)
So Daley has 'penis envy'
(too bad he just couldn't buy a Corvette like everyone else)
In short, he's a mentally ill psychotic.(I'm 'series' here)
(1) To the mutt's credit he never ratted on anyone.
Then again, ALL the Daley brothers went to De La Salle and Richie was the only one everyone hated.
'Just Wait', Holy shiite, didn't you hear what happened Thurs afternoon in Chi?
There was even a thread yesterday on it.
Here's the short version..
A Chicago Cop, in full uniform, just gets off duty and is walking to his car In The Police Station Parking Lot.This 'black yute' is 24yo, and has .. get ready ... 21 Prior Felony Arrests! This black yute, sneaks up behind him, grabs his gun, there's a struggle, and the 'yute' shoots the Cop DEAD, right there in broad daylight, and with other Cops in full view!
The maggot runs across the street with the dead Cop's gun, a gun fight with cops ensues, and the Cop Killer winds up wounded and is now in the Hospital - at taxpayers expense. And unfortunately the maggot is gonna live and fully recover.
Now this far Daley has not tried to use this in his 'anti gun violence' crusade.
And he better not, the cops hate his guts already (THAT is a story unto itself)
No no he doesn’t. He certainly doesn’t want to ban the ones in the hands of his personal security force.
“Do you have any insight into why Daley is so rabidly obsessed with the gun control issue?”
Mayor Shortshanks fears armed citizens because armed citizens have the potential of killing countless numbers of his voters.
Actually Freud says much the opposite of what you imply:
Freud associates retarded sexual/emotional development not with gun ownership, but with fear and loathing of weapons. (S. Freud & D. Oppenheim, DREAMS IN FOLKLORE (1958) at 33.)
From “Gun Control: A Realistic Assessment” by Don Cates.
-dan z-
Newbie. I was being sarcastic about Freud.
(Misspelling his name should have been the tipoff. But you'll catch on eventually to FReeper sarcasm and humor)
But I wasn't about Richie Daley's *problems* in HS. Now he's getting even with all his 'lessers' who bullied him. Even though they are phantoms in his mind he HAS to "control them".
And if you lived in the Chi metro area and have seen some of his press conferences, or read about them over the years, you'd see that he is 100% psychotic. 'Guns' set him off like a lit match to a stick of Dynamite. But anything, or anyone that challenges 'his power' sets him off. The guy is moonbat nuts. 'Guns' are just the easiest way he can exercise his POWER over 'everyone'. And I mean everyone. He has his toadies in the IL Gen Assembly trying to do it to all of IL.
And the 'funny thing' is that his dad, the REAL Mayor Daley, had one heck of a Handgun Collection. So its not like he's never seen one or handled one. And at his 'Summer House' in Michigan he 'had' at least one personally owned shotgun. His son got in trouble years back for shooting it on the property. That story disappeared pretty quick.
Chicago ping
Does the police department that defends him have guns??
He just wants everyone else to not have guns.
He doesn’t want to ban all guns. Infact, he does not want to ban guns at all. His bodyguard and his police are armed to the teeth. He just doesn’t want the slaves being able to own guns.
Didn't know that. I bought a plane there once-upon-a-time - a T-210 ....................... FRegards
But remember, Herr Daley is PRO-Crime!
Don’t forget, the Chicago Aldermen/women all get to pack heat as well..in addition, I’ve heard that elements like Secretary of State get full auto privileges. Pure aristocracy.
More Guns, Less Crime author/professor Lott met Obama when at University of Chicago, and Zero declared: “I don’t believe people should have guns.”
A tenderfoot.
The local population should be up in arms(excuse the term), but there is a element that keeps people convinced that the justice system exist to keep people in their place.
The judge who issued my NY carry permit neutered all such with severe restrictions.
Word is he was later removed from the bench for cocaine trafficking.
Go figure.
