Admission into the US is a privilege, not a right.

This needs to be repeated. Your whole post is a great one and I wish it was required reading by every American citizen because most people have no idea how the process works or what is involved. I do not think it should be easy for citizens of other countries to become citizens for various reasons- one being if it is easy where does the appreciation come from of being a citizen? Also the fact that we DO NOT want anyone and everyone to be able to be citizens since that would include criminals and terrorists. The only way to exclude anyone is to have a process meaning it won't be fast to get through any legitimate process. I would like to say concerning people coming here from Mexico specifically since there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding about that. There is and has been for ages a process for Mexican citizens to come here LEGALLY to visit, work, and even obtain citizenship and in fact citizens of Mexico are given additional consideration above all other countries- mainly because we allow them to LEGALLY come here in far larger numbers than we allow from other countries.

I get extremely angry when some stupid politician or reporter says "we need a legal process for illegals to come here" as if there is no way for them to do it legally. Many believe this because they don't bother to inform themselves how it all works so it is easy for the media and politicians to sway many people toward supporting ILLEGAL immigration until we have "immigration reform." The only immigration reform we need is to strictly enforce immigration laws and deport all illegals.

We get it, you want to reward foreign criminals with legal status and punish legal immigrants who have obeyed the law.

I believe the Bible has a few words to say about promoting lawlessness... People like you who promote evil and call it good are terrible.

He understands perfectly. He is just is just demagoguing because to AMNESTY SHILLS illegal immigrants are more preferable to actual legal immigrants because legal immigrants won't fill their church coffers or vote en masse for their pary.

""[T]he majority of people ... demand secure borders, credible enforcement of our current immigration laws by our federal government, reforming the broken immigration system, and humanely addressing those who have entered the country illegally," argue signers of the pastors' declaration."

They should stop right here, because anything they say beyond this is just going downhill. But, they didn't. They called for 'genuine dialogue'. Ah, how does 'dialogue' genuine or fake, secure the borders?

I was speaking of the 220 preachers... and they are wanting to allow enemy invaders... people with no education, third world diseases, mores, customs, ideas and social skills... people that cannot and will not assimilate and people that have reconquista as their goal... to just walk in and make themselves at home. ALL of these invaders side with la raza... race before ALL... so yes... if these so called men of GOD are promoting allowing enemy invaders to stay here and become citizens in violation of FEDERAL and STATE laws... they are doing MAJOR harm to this Nation.

By their actions, they encourage other invading enemies to continue to illegally enter our Nation. We know that al qaeda is here and that they are using the same entrances these mexicans are using... we have lost many law enforcement and ICE agents to their murderous violence... American government buildings have been fired on and hit in El Paso... three border counties in Arizona have been lost to mexican invaders... Americans are killed and beheaded by these evil scum... land owners in America have lost their rights... we are becoming South Africa and Rhodesia. No amount of whitewash can paint over these facts.

Well, if you are referring to them, I think you must not even have read the Declaration they wrote for all to see.

They CLEARLY spelled out that they want enforcement strongly implemented. Nowhere in their declaration did they say they support criminals, people who come here to get a handout or even the reconquistas that you mentioned. They CLEARLY want people to assimilate ( Learning English and being well verse in American way of life is prominently stated in their Declaration )

I suggest you read their Declaration before you make a judgment.

You may argue with some of their proposals ( I have questions regarding STEP 3 of the declaration myself ), but please, do not put words or motives in their mouths and minds unless they explicitly state them.

Well for one — a dialogue should be serious about creating a GOOD PLAN to secure the borders.

If they’re serious about it, I am not going to put sinister motives into their minds regarding whether their intent is genuine or fake.

RE: So exactly what does the “SPEEDY PROCESSING OF THEIR APPLICATIONS” mean in terms of the above framework of admissions. Are they saying we should remove the caps? What about background, medical, and security checks? Admission into the US is a privilege, not a right.

By speedy processing, I believe they mean a serious effort to reform the INS and Homeland Security in such a way so that LEGAL immigrants do not have to wait 10 years or more ( I know of many who tell me that ).

As for the rest of your fears (e.g. removing caps, background checks, etc.), well they NEVER said they wanted that. In fact, the tone of their document tell that they would want to RETAIN them.

In fact the document states for instance :

“Any person found to have committed crimes against property or person while here, or with a felony criminal record in his or her home country, should be denied legal status of any kind and deported.”

How is background checks incompatible with the above ?

I challenge you to look at this thread and scan it carefully and tell me WHERE in my posts I characterized ANYONE as racist, un-Christian, etc.

C’mon, show me the exact post number. If you can find it I apologize. If you cannot find it, you owe me an apology.

RE: The amnesty types like to create the distinction between “criminal illegal aliens” [an estimated 2 million] and “lawful illegal aliens.” They draw this distinction so they can give the 10 to 20 million illegal aliens amnesty, i.e., allow them to stay and work here.

AHA, that’s where I TOTALLY AGREE with you. I wish people would be as thoughtful as you in this thread ( unfortunately, many are not... they rant on and on and put motives into me and the others as if they could read their minds ). Mentioning things like La Raza and Reconquista ( as it these Pastors support these crazy groups ) is tarring and feathering people without trying to understand what they really want.

You post is really the crux of the matter. I would tell these pastors to revisit STEP 3 of their declaration because they seem to want to nuance criminal and non-criminal illegals in this country.

The fact is both are breaking the law and need to be deported.

Having said that, I am still in favor of an orderly, controlled temporary worker program much like they have in countries like Singapore and Hongkong.

All of these religions getting involved in politics should be rewarded with hefty tax bills.

Does that include Rev.Wright's church?

Excuse me ? Who is demagoguing the issue and trying to put motives and words into other people’s mouths/minds.

I believe it is YOU and not me. Who is the one who presented a FALSE INFORMATION regarding Evangelicals allegedly voting overwhelmingly for Obama when the OPPOSITE is in fact true ? YOU OF COURSE.

Read my post #112 for instance and tell me where I am being a shill for Amnesty ?

By speedy processing, I believe they mean a serious effort to reform the INS and Homeland Security in such a way so that LEGAL immigrants do not have to wait 10 years or more ( I know of many who tell me that ).

You still seem to miss the point. Ten years for a legal immigrant may be appropriate given the category they are immigrating under and the cap number. Legal immigrants in the US can sponsor their extended family into the US. One immigrant from Nigeria sponsored 83 members of his family.

My wife is an immigrant and I have issued visas as a Consular Officer, i.e., I have personal and professional experience in this area. It depends on the circumstances as to how long an immigrant visa may take. We cannot bring in everyone who wants to come. We allow 1.2 million a year legally into this country, which I believe is too high.

As for the rest of your fears (e.g. removing caps, background checks, etc.), well they NEVER said they wanted that. In fact, the tone of their document tell that they would want to RETAIN them.

If you retain caps, you will have waiting lines. It is as simple as that.

“Any person found to have committed crimes against property or person while here, or with a felony criminal record in his or her home country, should be denied legal status of any kind and deported.”

This is the language of amnesty. There are an estimated 2 million criminal aliens in this country out of the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens. The pro-amnesty supporters try to make this distinction without a difference. All illegals have committed a crime by just entering illegally. The vast majority of others have committed crimes such as identity theft, working illegally, failure to pay taxes, etc. The existing laws say they all must be deported.

How is background checks incompatible with the above ?

When background checks are done on intending immigrants, except for those changing status while in the US, the applicant is overseas in his/her home country. If we allow people who entered this country illegally to stay and work here, it is patently unfair to those who have followed the rules and are awaiting their turn overseas. We don't need people as citizens who flaunt and violate our laws to get here.

The U.S. adds one international migrant (net) every 36 seconds. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest it has been in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.

125,000 brand new foreign workers with work permits each month -- HERE'S THE PROOF--Does this make any sense while 25 million Americans are looking for full time employment?

No.
Close the borders.

Fix the system......?

you can grant worker visas...and you can put people on atrack to citzenship...but we already HAVE THAT NOW! Its just it takes forever to get that....legally...so these aliens go to ‘the back of the line”? In the meantime ( 10 or 20 years...) what happens to them ? We couldn’t even issue green cards with our quotas for the next 5 years..we can’t get scientists in that fast!

I watched a downloaded movie SIN NOMBRE last night from Netflix.

Everyone should rent SIN NOMBRE to see graphically how we are being invaded by illegal aliens and in particular MS 13 gangs.

“Step Three – Implement a just process to legal status for specified illegal immigrants”

Amnesty. This is nothing but a call for amnesty.

Having said that, I am still in favor of an orderly, controlled temporary worker program much like they have in countries like Singapore and Hongkong.

We actually already have guest worker programs that bring in hundreds of thousands of temporary workers every year. Here is a list of various temporary worker visas

The larger question is how many temporary workers do we need? We have an abundance of unskilled labor that grows every year due to our legal immigration policies that bring in large amounts of unskilled, uneducated, and untrained workers who become a burden to our society. 53% of immigrant headed households are on welfare. Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation work, Importing Poverty: Immigration and Poverty in the United States: A Book of Charts, remains the seminal work on the subject.

Temporary workers don't go home. Singapore has been successful because they apply draconian laws to enforce their policy. Workers cannot switch jobs, they must leave within 7 days if they lose their jobs, they can't marry natives, and they face deportation or mandatory abortions if they get pregnant. Singapore is an authoritarian society. Such rules would never survive in the US.

Milton Friedman said, “You cannot simultaneously have free immigration and a welfare state.” We have both.

I thought we “reformed” it when Reagan granted all those amnesty the first time. Personally I think we should have a moratorium on immigration until the economy recovers and we get the loafers off welfare.
