American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten told her members meeting in Seattle on Thursday that the past two years have been "tougher than I've ever seen," with shrinking school budgets combined with increasing initiatives to punish teachers whose students don't succeed.
She urged her audience to fight against what she called the "blame the teacher crowd" by embracing new strategies to reform public education.
She called it "Fighting Smart": "searching for solutions we believe will work, even if those solutions force us to think outside the box or initially make us feel uncomfortable."
She spoke to more than 2,700 delegates gathered at the Washington State Trade and Convention Center. The loudest applause of the morning when she talked about her feelings of betrayal by the Obama administration.

American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten...
Another useful idiot just now figuring it out.
“...shrinking school budgets combined with increasing initiatives to punish teachers whose students don’t succeed.”

To Ms. Randi: Things are tough all over sweetheart. And in my opinion, they oughta be a lot tougher for you. Most schools are turning out graduates who can’t read, write or do simple mathematics. Yet, we taxpayers pour billions of dollars into education (much of which goes into your pockets). I don’t know of any other job where a person continues to be paid for turning out a substandard product.
Sorry, the golden goose is about to lay her last egg.
“I have a number of friends who are teachers. Biggest bunch of whiners I’ve ever seen.”

Maybe they just need even MORE time off per year.....
Dear Teacher:
If you were an army... you would be defeated
If you were producing a product... no one would buy it
Get the picture?
One of the things I hope a conservative Congress/Administration will do in 2012 is to encourage states to put school voucher programs in place all across the country. First, it will result in more cost-effective education. Second, it will result in better education. Third, it attacks the enemies of liberty not in their front yards, but in their living rooms.
Then move on to a repeal of Obamacare and card-check (to cut unions down to size) and radical slashing of the government bureaucracy, including elimination of whole departments that are useless or outright harmful to liberty and prosperity.
Our next turn in office needs to be about roll-back.
Some time ago I posted on a thread the question, is there ANY group that is pleased with Obama? Iow, who hasn’t he let down? He’s been worse than many conservatives imagined; moderates and Independents are running from him in panicked and horrified droves. Homosexual groups are furious he hasn’t been more proactive on DADT. Illegals are angry because he hasn’t done more to push amnesty. Greenies wonder what became of cap and trade. I thought maybe unions would be the lone exception, but they’re ticked off too.
Obama has at least two major talents: energizing opponents and letting down/ticking off supporters.
Yeah, that's the ticket!
Back in the early 60s, when teacher unions were just starting to gain ground in our area, I was in high school. My parents, who had never even graduated from high school, looked up to teachers as if they were gods. At the time, I bought into their way of thinking, too.
Then I went on to college. Rubbing shoulders with the Future Teachers of America took the bloom off that rose!
I think that’s why so many of us are not buying their - yes, INCESSANT - whining.
Guarunteed raises. Job security unheard of in any other profession. Benefits package equal to probably a quarter of my salary. Do I have to say it? 3 months of vacation.
I don’t even mind that they get all that. But I get seriously aggravated that they get all that AND whine that they don’t get enough . . . and that no one rspects them. Well DUH!
