Democratic House members are so worried about the fall elections they're leaving Washington on July 30, a full week earlier than normaland they won't return until mid-September. Members gulped when National Journal's Charlie Cook, the Beltway's leading political handicapper, predicted last month "the House is gone," meaning a GOP takeover. He thinks Democrats will hold the Senate, but with a significantly reduced majority.

If the Donks follow this strategy, they’d better stay and retire in Washington, DC.

Many folks are saying that the ‘rats will try to ram as much as they can through between November 3 and Jan 1.
If they think people are angry now, just go ahead and try that. Bastille Day will be a picnic compared to the reaction to that.

As long as those are conservative gains I’ll be happy. RINO gains won’t mean much.

Not much left of it and what remains is in poor repair. I'm thinking a couple of CVN battle groups that take their oath to The Constitution seriously would do the job quite nicely. But I agree that reminding Obama why the Whitehouse is painted white might be a good thing. Apparently they don't teach history at Harvard.

I believe you are right. Will it actually come to crowds of people having to flood Washington DC in protest, as in the 60s regarding civil rights and the Viet Nam war? (I assume any protest today would be as legal as those protests were then.)

"If they think people are angry now, just go ahead and try that. Bastille Day will be a picnic compared to the reaction to that."This gang of thugs have such support from the dishonest propagandists posing as journalists that they'd welcome such "opportune crises" as proof of how dangerous the "Right Wing" is, and use maximum force to put down such protests and justify greater weight put on the neck of liberty.

On a totally different subject, anyone remember that cool Nintendo game called “Duck Hunt”...?

And, they canand will do this. The agenda is more important than the desire of the American voters and a lame-duck session in December will be a way for Obama, Pelosi and Reid to show the American voter who is boss.

Someone else mentioned that this is less of a fear than we would normally expect. Those who are due for reelection in 2012 are much less likely to rubberstamp things after the bloodbath in 2010.

You think the “journalists” would survive an American Bastille Day once it got started?

The PUBs need to take a page out of the RATs playbook. Legislation cannot be enacted without members of both parties present. It’s called a quorum. By simply not being in the chambers, there is no quorum. Hence, there cannot be any legislation enacted.
