It was nothing more than a two-minute self-promotional spot, a campaign-style production that any candidate with a little cash and a capable consultant could splice together, yet Sarah Palins newly-released video managed to drive cable news television chatter and blazed across the blogosphere Thursday.
It was a remarkable display of forceand one that almost no one else in American political life can replicate.
The spot, scored with upbeat music designed to underscore Palins message of conservative female empowerment and the idea of a grassroots awakening, may not be enough to rehabilitate her polarizing profile in time for a 2012 presidential bid.
But the effect reinforced the notion that she remains perhaps the most electric force in the Republican Party, and suggested she is taking steps to professionalize her approach and solidify her role as the conservative movement's most prized endorser and fundraiser.
The slick web video marked a departure for Palin, who until now has primarily relied on a small group of advisers and pursued a mostly ad hoc political approach since her resignation as governor. She delivers the occasional speech and sometimes lectures the media via Twitter and Facebook tactics which play well with some on the right but which are out of sync with the global profile she enjoys.
But in recent months, by lending her support to a group of successful female Republican candidates, the former Alaska governor has established herself as a GOP political queenmaker. And with Thursdays video, she moved to cement her image as the country's leader of conservative women, leading a stampede of "pink elephants."
All of it seems to indicate a level of strategic thinking among her and her small inner circle that hasnt always been apparent.

may not be enough to rehabilitate her polarizing profile in time for a 2012 presidential...
And Obama isn’t polarizing???? sheesh
They wish
I want the most polarizing, clearly defined election in our history!
Sarah the conservative patriot versus the Kenyan Communist.
Clearly defined differences is what I would call it.
Thanks!
You betcha! “Polarizing” is meant to make her unappealing and too risky.
It *is* their word.
Ya know where they can shove it, doncha!
*may not be enough to rehabilitate her polarizing profile in time for a 2012 presidential...*
If Bush 41 could blow 90 percent approval ratings at the end of the Gulf War and lose an election in less time, I think Sarah will do just fine.
I am a knuckle dragger and I say Palin is simply awesome. I beam with patriotic pride every time I see or hear her. It’s the same feeling I got when I watched the 1980 Olympic hockey team, President Reagan, or get to buy a beer or meal for a young Marine. She inspires unabashed, patriotic pride. I profoundly thank her.
Yeah that line was stupid from Politico....Sarah has until Mid January of 2012 (the Iowa Caucasus) a full 19 months to rectify any “alleged polarizing profile”.....History proves it on many potential candidates in the past who suffer many a myriad of personal issues to become the nominee and even President.....
The one problem I have with snarky MSM and Freepers who don’t like Sarah or think she can’t do it, is this: They haven’t seen Sarah Palins potential message on issues for 2012 or her stumping across the country for herself running for President....they don’t know if what people hear from her will resonate -— They just assume that people just won’t listen to her if she runs....well it’s clear that Mrs. Palin has an advantage: Whatever she says or does, a slew of People will listen or watch, positive or negative....she gets the attention that the other Republicans wish they could get...
If she is on target and on point she will suffocate the rest of the GOP candidates out of the lime light
What is polarizing about Sarah is we love her and they are scared to death of her derailing their train to hell so they decided to demonize her in the best Alinsky tradition. Unfortunately for them, Sarah didn’t run away whimpering while they proceeded to flush our country down their communist toilet.
I’m really not sure I’ve seen anything more ugly as what was done to the Palins or seen anyone with a stronger backbone fight back and survive. She is remarkable!
Before I say this, I tell you that I do support Sarah Palin.
The reason she didn't make it in broadcasting is because of her regional accent that she appears to be unwilling to change.
In politics, however, I do not think the regional accent hurts her.
After all, LBJ, Kennedy, Carter and Clinton all got elected.
If you haven't seen it, here it is.
Good Post. She does have that love of country, family and God and it is real. She makes me smile.
WHat we need is bumber stickers that say “YOU BETCHA - Palin - 2012”
Thank you, (((( Victoria ))))
YOU BETCHA!
That’s precisely what we need!
“The reason she didn’t make it in broadcasting is because of her regional accent that she appears to be unwilling to change”
.
Whatever gave you the notion that she didn’t make it in broadcasting?
She simply advanced beyond broadcasting because of her natural knack for politics.
“I really do not understand just what it is about Sarah Palin that is supposed to be ‘polarizing.’
The Lady is simply awesome in every aspect.”
.
And that is what is polarizing - to those that can’t measure up. :o)
.
The argument that Moms know when things are wrong and may be more worried about the future of the kids and grandkids is a good one, and she drives it home powerfully.

Like Reagan she is set on fracturing their base, but a somewhat different audience than the “Reagan Democrats” of 26 and 30 years ago. She is going after the females who have families or small businesses or nascent careers or need to live within a responsible budget.
Many of them do vote Democrat in the normal course of things, but must be distressed with the manifest decay under BO policy.
The slobbering “Broes before Hoes” tribal rallying cry in the Democrat primary set a coal fire loose within their owm base too. This will keep that burning merrily.
Per usual, with one ball Palin got all ten pins, while the usual dogfood candidates keep failing at tic tac toe.
