Why do you think the DemocRATS want the feral government to take over health care?

This is no surprise at all.
It is understandable to see the young brainwashed, as Savage calls them, Red diaper doper babies, voting for Democrats, but
anyone over 50 that still votes for Obama Democrats
has to be a certified Marxist.

-- This article contains an amazing amount of sense ... --

It's in the nature of an opinion column, for what it's worth. It;s conclusions sound plausible to me, as well. But I found this notion disturbing because it implies that "conservatives are abandoning principles they once had." This reads as though Republicans are winning over converts in the 50-64 age group, by promising more and better government care. That cycle spirals DOWN, until the government collapses. The article puts me in a bad mood.

[Concern over heath care is] a huge opportunity. ...
Republicans are seizing it by casting themselves as defenders of Medicare

Well as the saying goes, “if you are not a liberal when you are young, you have no heart, but when older, if you are not a conservative, then you have no brains”.

When one gets older, you are supose to get wiser.

leaves Democrats with two options ... One is to trim their sails... The other is to rely on the passage of time...

Both wrong. One is to search for "R" candidate dirt... the other is to rely on death panels.

Not only have those over 50 lost their employment but they see that their college educated sons and daughters cannot find employment either.

Just making excuses for Obama’s impending epic fail. Demographics don’t change this radically without a strong dose of failed leadership.

No one mentioned that boomers are depending on their 401Ks, not Social Security/pensions like a generation ago. This tends to make them big fans of a strong economy.

It’s written by Doyle McManus. Though part of the MSM/LSM, he has seemed over the years to be disinclined to skew things to the far left.

Here in Massachusetts there used to be Obama bumper stickers on every third car. I took a hour and half ride to Logan Airport and back and looked for and saw maybe four stickers.

Seems like a lot of Kool-Aid drinkers have peeled them off.

This article also misses some very good points altogether. Older voters are appalled at the Democrats way of governing. Bi-partisanship has been abandoned, as 0bama simply stated, my way or the hi-way. Bi-partisanship requires give and take on both sides. When the Democrats crafted the health care bill, it was done in secrecy, with no input from th Republicans whatsoever.

The President resorted to dirty tricks to get the bill passed, promising weak willed legislators special treatment. When the majority of Americans said they didn’t want the health care bill, they were ignored.

Government by the people was destroyed, it is simply government for the people.

Yes and Boomers, being the most self-centered, opportunistic and destructive generation** in US history***, are now running to the Party (GOP) that they feel will serve their needs best.

(**AS a generation, overall. There are lots of sensible Boomers out there. Especially those that are FReepers)

(***Note that their progeny, the "Millenials" or "Boomer Echo Generation", will probably beat them hands down in this area. Unless they have a life-altering experience that impacts them as a whole. Like having to survive a Depression and getting to know what hunger and poverty are like)

The phrase originated with Francois Guisot (1787-1874):

“Not to be a republican at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head.”

Obama still has plenty of worshipers over 50. But they are usually associated with unions, either that or dead.
