“The real problem we have,” Mort Zuckerman said, “are some of the worst economic policies in place today that, in my judgment, go directly against the long-term interests of this country.”....If Mort and his ilk at this elite gathering weren't bright enough to understand that the policies he's complaining about were exactly what we were going to get after hearing Obama tell Joe the Plumber he wanted to "share the wealth", Mort and the ilk are among the dumbest people on the scene today......

The question I have whenever I read something like this article is: Did these people, the ones they interviewed, support 0bama in the first place? The media (left and right) tend to make a generalization over one group (intellectuals, feminists, Christians, etc...), and they often pick one or two persons belonging to the group in question to support their story (whatever it is). If these people were against 0bama in the first place, we don't see any change.

We often saw this kind of 'journalism' throughout Bush presidency. They interviewed 'Christians', 'Republicans', 'Evangelicals', etc., to give impression that people from those groups left Dubya; when in fact, the people they interviewed had never been Bush supporters in the first place.

"The consensus was similar in an afternoon panel discussion on the decline of the American middle class. “He said jobs were going to be his No. 1 priority—there’s a huge disconnect between Washington and what’s going on out in the country,” nominal Obama supporter Arianna Huffington said. "

Or, through the translator: "Daaaaaahling. I sense, when some of the leetle peeple are around, that a tahrget is beink placed on my back. Eeen fact, my freinds feel the same, like we are the nobles facing the rest of the country in France in 1789...."

What I don't hear from these people is, I was wrong and I made a mistake. Until then, they will happily remain idiots, fooling themselves into believing they couldn't deduce this earlier, and ready to vote for the next charlatan that tickles their ego....

The “smart people” are always the last to know.

The higher the eeducation the less common sense.

The Elite Turn Against Obama

The author gives them too much credit. This was nothing more than a therapy session to reason away their apparent cognitive dissonance. A circle jerk for the elites. They have learned nothing aside from burying their own incompetence efficiently. Makes them even more dangerous in my opinion. The guilt is still there, only there's more baggage attached to it and ready to be tweaked by the next Obama...

In a way, the folks attending this cerebral conclave pairing the Aspen Institute think tank with the Atlantic Monthly magazine might even be seen as President Obama’s natural base.

Cerebral? This was a conclave of idiots. Their savior was a false prophet.

And anybody with a 9th grade education in the realn world saw it coming. So, how "smart" are these "experts"?

"..this cerebral conclave..."

Not sure how you can classify as cerebral, that which lacks as it's foundation, the perception of the obvious.

Amazing how some are still not laying blame on Obama but his team-If James Brolin thought the conference was “Mind Blowing” I wonder what words he would utter if he knew that all the policys Obama and his team are implementing are for the purposeful destruction of the United States. I think he will pass out

I think even the hard core Left is seeing that the country is falling apart economically and is scared to death. Now they want to support the American economy so that their standard of living won’t diminish.

You’d think the well-heeled and enlightened eggheads at the Aspen Ideas Festival—which is running all week in this fashionable resort town with heady panel discussions and earnest disquisitions involving all manner of deep thinkers and do-gooders—would be receptive to an intellectually ambitious president with big ideas of his own.

I'd have thought Aspenites would regard Obama as too conservative.
