Morgan County WV is having a flag contest and there were 3 finalists out of 24 submitted designs.
My design is Flag 1 in the contest. I am urging people to vote for it at http://www.morgancountywv.gov/gov/flagpoll.html#
Problems with the other flags are:
Flag 3: It shows Morgan for whom the county was named for. I don't think he ever lived in the county though and portraits of people are inappropriate for flags.
Flag 2: It doesn't have the standard 3 by 5 dimension, but rather has a 3.9 by 5 dimension, it has too many colors, too much small print, the large print is blurry, and it looks like a scene rather a flag.
PLEASE VOTE ONLY ONCE!
This is Flag 1:

The poll has had other problems: Flag 2 only leads because of two big bursts of votes (one a group of 40 and another of 15 in a matter of a few minutes on two days). On all other days, Flag 1 got more votes. I think the designer of Flag 2 cheats and votes multiple times when it looks like his lead will be lost.
The other problem started on June 21 when votes for Flag 1 no longer registered. Perhaps the designer of Flag 2 has somehow altered the poll software. Votes for Flag 2 went through, but votes for Flag 1 only seemed to be counted if one complained to the poll administrator.
Thanks for your help.
P.S. This thread was posted in news/activism to get more attention and to expose problems with the poll.
No thanks. I’m not helping you for personal gain. That is not what FR is about. Let your design stand or fall on it’s own merits. Don’t come here asking for our help in winning a stupid contest.
voted
I would have selected yours even if you weren’t a Freeper. it is the best most memorable design
Sorry, I Like #3.
The vote counter did not increase, so the poll is still rejecting votes. It is this anomaly that I am trying to document.
Sorry.
Shadowed lettering? Beyond that, I’d personally like to stay out of this one since I don’t live there and really shouldn’t impose my dog in this hunt. Good luck.
Geez.
Sorry.
I voted for flag # 3 before I read the narrative.
I agree pictures of people are kind of odd for flags, but there were and are figures of individuals on various state flags, as well as were on various colonial flags.
I voted for # 3 because Daniel Morgan is one of my great heroes - and actually, he was born in northwestern New Jersey. But then more intelligent Jersey boys eventually get the heck out of here.
I guess you are a Vexillologist by avocation or trade.
I like “Liberty or Death Don’t Tread on Me”
You may have thought that you voted, but the vote counter did not increase, so your vote was rejected.
Oh well. Another rigged election!!!
It appears that the poll has been corrected so that votes register, but nearly all the votes between June 21 and July 7 did not get counted.
Please vote again. Your first vote wasn’t counted due to an error in the polling software. The error has now been corrected.
Now, if I voted again, I’d feel obliged to vote for your flag as you a fellow Freeper, even though I like the one with “The Old Waggoner” on it!!
The only time that votes for Flag 2 occur is immediately after votes for Flag 1, so it appears the designer of flag 2 is still cheating somehow.
Same pattern today. The poll gets tied and then 4 quick votes for Flag 2 appear over an interval of a few minutes.
Just for the record, the suspicious voting pattern for Flag 2 continues with votes being recorded for Flag 2 within a few minutes after a vote for Flag 1 occurs.
Everyone I have heard from thinks Flag 2 is the worst design of the three.
Flag 2 leads by 4 votes.
Vote for Flag 1!
Another 21 votes have shown up in the last 12 hours, but I don’t know for whom the votes were made because they no longer provide the percentage votes. I think the percentages may be given after one votes, but am not sure of that.
If anyone is reading this, I hope they vote for Flag 1 at http://www.morgancountywv.gov/gov/flagpoll.html and report back the results.
