Have the people of Arizona had enough? Grumblings in the state's capital seem to think so.
After the fed had completely abandoned any serious efforts to secure the southwestern border, Arizona passed a law which largely enforced laws on the books.
But the oppressive Obama Regime, who wants to legalize millions of illegals to secure votes, is now suing Arizona's new law.
The Justice Department is overstepping its bounds, says a source in the Arizona government. They have no right to overturn a law enacted by a State and overwhelmingly supported by its citizens. But we know this administration cares little for Constitutional law.
While sycophants of Obama were claiming the border was more secure than ever, gun battles were breaking out just across the border in Mexico.
Arizona citizens fear for their lives. The unsecure border is letting drugs, gangs and all sorts of violent criminals. This is about national defense and Obama and Congress have abandoned Arizona.
Regardless of the outcome of the suit, we may ignore Obama and do what we have to do to defend our state. If that means leaving the federal regime that abandoned us, then we will.
They did it back in the 19th Century.
Really? Do you think we will stand idly by and let this go on? Deputies, Police Officer and Citizen have been killed by Illegals. Sections of our State are being taken over by illegals.
Bank on it. It will be ignored. What a public relations nightmare: Obama refuses to protect border, yet will prosecute State Officials and Citizens trying to protect their lives.
The Revolution will start in AZ.
You obviously don’t live here.
I think of it like this: what if there were a criminal gang producing counterfeit money in, say, Texas, but the Secret Service for whatever reason refused to pursue them. Would it not be legitimate for the state to deputize the Texas Rangers to go after them? It’s a simple matter of law enforcement.
“Obama would rather (and sooner) send troops to quash brash Arizonans than to stop criminal aliens”
Yes. I think he very much would do that. Eisenhower sent the National Guard to Little Rock, AR to force the integration of Central High School. So it’s not like it has never been done.
The Emperor of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, would not, I think, hesitate to use force on the Arizonans. But, it would have to be a situation where Arizona ignores a SCOTUS decision striking SB1070 down, and then proceeds ahead anyway.
Or. If Arizona ignores a Federal Court injunction to delay enforcement of SB1070.
And their water, energy, etc etc
“The Revolution will start in AZ.”
You will find there are a hell of a lot of volunteers ready and able and willing to join Arizona’s ranks in fighting the tyranny that is gearing up to attack it.
If Arizona seceeds it needs to come up with a military and a treasury. Since it is unlikely that other nations are going to be willing to lend the new nation of Arizona any money, and it would be landlocked and surrounded by the United States, and Mexico.
If the United States didn't just sweep in and squash the uprising, they could just prohibit any goods headed to Arizona from the states. Obviously stopping smuggling isn't one of our government's strong points, but that is a relatively small quantity of illicit goods, not everything the state might need.
I doubt Mexico would be a more friendly neighbor, and while the federales might be bribed I wouldn't want to try smuggling things by the cartels. Without the threat of the US federal government, I'd be seriously concerned how much the cartels might expand their violence against Arizona.
Arizona is an important part of the United States, but it is not prepared to become a nation.
I highly doubt the courts will uphold this politically motivated and frivolous lawsuit. However, if they do I would hope that it might finally mobilize voters to put better representatives in office.
Arizona has been doing a good job of leading the fight against illegal immigration through legal and political means. Seceeding would be a surrendering of that effort that would leave the rest of us weaker in our efforts, and leave Arizona in an unsustainable situation.
It would be foolhardy beyond belief.
The first Federal shot that is fired will bring out every bit of that ammo that the conservatives have bought over the last two years.
This President may be an idiot but he has NO CLUE the can of worms that will open (or whoopass, whichever) if he sends troops to cut down AZ’s law.
I pray he gets a clue quickly. He needs it.
Eisenhower sent the 101st Airborne into Little Rock with bayonets drawn.
Landlocked, not an enviable position for a nation.
The very first thing the AZ legal team needs to do is use discovery interrogatories to have Obama produce his birth certificate to prove he fulfills the requirements of office and that he has “standing” to order the Justice Dept. to pursue the lawsuit.
Any state legal team that goes to court with the Obama justice dept. needs to have the court require Obama to prove he is a legit president. If he can’t, then any law passed or lawsuit ordered under his “authority” is null and void.
Surely the state of AZ and any other state that finds themselves in court against the Obama regime needs to require those proofs. They obviously have “standing” if they’re being brought into court by Zero’s regime or by laws he has signed if he’s not qualified.
We would just ignore the Feds. We’d have no choice.
Does Zona have any Sinators who have anything to say about this outrage??
Pray for America
Couldn’t they withhold federal money as punishment?
If Zero and the Demwits begin to bail out the bankrupt blue states, I fully expect the secession movement in Texas to pick up steam. How long before red state taxpayers realize the scam that is the Democrat party?
It very well may pickup, but I doubt it will go very far unless it’s a movement to secede and join Mexico. Immigration and diversity have been unkind to my state. Too bad really since we do have what it takes to remain independent especially if backed by the rest of red state America.
