I love this guy, in spite of the Mitt and Huck flying monkeys who appear whenever his name is mentioned.

You have a reading problem!! Are maybe that is an understanding problem. But the big problem is this is America the greatest country in the world and Mitch Danial's expects you to pay foreigners to ride on American roads.

OK...you're an isolationist...I get it.

But I don't think you're going to convince anyone that Australia is an Arab front.

Goodness. If your is an indication of the intelligence of Governor Daniel’s opposition, he will win in a cake walk.

Mitch Danial's expects you to pay foreigners to ride on American roads.

As a Hoosier, I note that the Indiana Toll Road is used disproportionately for interstate traffic from the East Coast to Chicago. It is not significantly trafficked by Hoosiers traveling in-state.

Mitch recognized this and took a money losing asset that provided little value to the state of Indiana and turned it into $4 billion cash that has provided all sorts of benefits to Hoosiers on an everyday basis. I'm comfortable with that.

The above two issues are going to be his albatros if he were to campaign for POTUS.

Depends on who the other candidates are. But just for argument's sake, I note that Indiana is a socially conservative state. Mitch has relatively high approval ratings in the state and handily won re-election, even when Indiana went for Obama in the Presidential race.

Although we are still awhile off, it seems likely that the economy will be the most significant issue in the 2012 presidential race. If the Republicans want to win, they should nominate the candidate that can speak most credibly to the economic issues facing the country.

Yes, that is correct, keep shaking the old tin cup and asking the rest of America to pay for your government. And people think California is F=====up.

"But, personally, I believe that the sooner a lot of these issues go to the state level the better off we are. If that's what Daniels is implying I'm for it."

Implying? Saying you want a "truce" at the National/Federal level is not 'implying' profound respect for 10A or its ragged abridgement in Roe.

So says the monkey who lives two states away...and I'm hardly fond of Rombot or the Huckster.

Interesting list. My list would be completely different.

Absolutely false. Young people are more opposed to abortion. Anyone over the age of 38 now is a survivor.

Those who claim Daniels isn't opposed to abortion are either obtuse or dishonest.

One of the first pieces of legislation to become law in Indiana after his election was a bill requiring that a mother be allowed to hear the heartbeat or view an ultrasound of her child before an abortion. The law has just about crippled the abortion industry in Indiana and has driven Planned Parenthood completely bonkers.

I stand corrected. Thanks.

Really? Are abortions down that much in Indiana, year-over-year? Got any statistics on the decline?

I ask only because similar measures are being considered in my own State, and it would be pleasing to expect that such laws will have some positive effect. Perhaps some souls aren't too calloused after all, once they see with their own eyes or hear with their own ears....

Wonderful. Hope the trend continues. Who can look at that sonogram of the beating heart of your own child and not be moved to thank God for such a gift?

The CDC reports that the number of abortions performed in Indiana dropped from 11,150 in 2005 to 10,614 in 2006. Not a large drop and no way of knowing how much of it was attributable to the new law. But a small victory is better than a large defeat.

Don't kid yourself. "Small victory"? I'll take a 5% decline in any year. Heck, at that rate, it would mean that in 20 years we'd have Won the War!! (finally). So, no, a 5% decline in one year isn't bad at all.

My list would be completely different.

For example?

What I see in this interview with Daniels is the evidence that he has a world view firmly grounded by the great conservative thinkers of the last century.

Some Freepers probably think he is too "intellectual".

Not me!!! I absolutely want a President who has read deeply (for example) Hayek and can articulate why he is relevant for today.
