The time for such excuses is well past. It's not stupidity. It's not incompetence. It's deliberate.

With 100% certainty.

Incompetence would result in at least accidentally do something, *anything* right at some point over the last 18 months. What would that single thing be?

Effing crickets. Nada.

This is a focused, flawless effort to destroy as much of America in as many theaters as possible in a grand asymmetric warfare attack headed by a foreign usurper who is more a part of the international Communist conspiracy than Stalin was.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

Tests of Gulf oil superskimmer inconclusive

Maybe they should let them try it on the oil slick.

A new roll for Costner, "Dances With EPA Bureaucrats."

He will long to be out on the plains in the middle of a buffalo stampede after that.

What did they get, 30 barrels? LOL

The only way this thing has a chance of working, is in very flat seas.

Probably works better if you don’t use millions of gallons of dispersant, and if you put the ship in the path of the river of oil.

Probably works better if you don’t wait two months to deploy it. Probably works better if it isn’t tied up to the dock.

Apparently this has been done before and there are people who know how to do it. But, and this is a really big but, they didn’t have to contend with this government.

That sounds like a winner. They are really being inundated with new products. It’s too bad that the industry didn’t search out these products before hand. It’s really a problem, convincing the industry that the boy scout motto is worth remembering. Actually, the boy scout motto and the Coast Guard motto are very similar. Semper Paratus!

I think that part of the problem is that the guys running the clean up are too technical, they have analyze the chemistry or engineering of everything, rather than just whether or not it works.

If there hadn’t been all the political pressure to hurry up and test it,...

The administration has been hurrying things along? ROTFLOL

If this happened in NY or the NE, it’s all we would hear 24/7. But this is the South so it’s not worth more exposure to the MSM than it’s getting!

Oh, I get it... They called this skimmer in for “tests” because they wanted to prove to us that they were not grossly negligent when they turned down the opportunity to use it earlier.

Yikes. Now back to predicting the worse case scenario on the stormsurfing.com site. 10 to 12 foot seas on Wednesday moving over the Oil Gusher straight into Louisiana.

Look at the 42 hour mark

I’d like to know what area the ship was sent to. If they were given a stretch that has old floating oil, all the light volatiles would be gone leaving the stuff behind that is near the density of water. It is very, very hard to separate that oil.

The test is being run in the vicinity of the platform. That’s the area of heaviest oiling.

Yeah, probably. It's a skimmer, they tend to work in conditions where there's something to skim.

The thing that's amazing to me is the bogus reporting surrounding this thing. I just read a WSJ article that, once again, confused the figure for the amount of water the thing injests with the figure for oil. They then compared it to the amount of oil that's been skimmed so far. This has been happening consistently in most of the stories on A-Whale. It, apparently, has never occurred to most of the media that, if the thing could remove 500,000 barrels of OIL a day, then it could pick up the entire leak in a week, even using the high flow estimate.

Same thing they did with the relief well measured depth verses the actual depth. There were stories saying it was 15 feet from busting through and BP was lying about the August time frame.

In this case, yes. As soon as the test preparations had been made, they sent it to sea. If they wanted a test under normal conditions they should have waited for them.

Yeah, and that was particularly egregious because they were getting detailed information on the relief wells on a daily basis. Then there’s just plain old common sense, why would the company that has to pay the cleanup costs delay things?

There’s Katrina-style reporting going on here, and I continue to be amazed by the fact that the same people who hated it the first time are falling for it now.

I remember when that bozo sanje gupta gave his infamous report about gunshots and shooting at or near the hospital that was full of people needing rescue.

The authorities canceled the rescue and waited days for the national guard troops and duece and a halfs to arrive. Dozens of people died or were euthanized by freaked out doctors with no hope.

Thank you CNN and they never ever said a word about the errant reporting and what it cost.

When you narrow the parameters like that you are right. They could have accepted the offer a month or so earlier and found ideal conditions to test it under a week or two ago.
