Rick Barber is in a run-off July 13th for the 2nd Congressional District of Alabama. Talk about gutsy. Check out his ads at the link below. He made Keith Oblbermann so mad that he said on national TV, about Rick Barber's ads: "You're a #@%#$^&@ liar and I hope they throw your sorry a** in jail."

Check out Rick's one-minute ads. We need this ex-Marine in Washington.

I mashed your link but I must not have seen the same video.
This Barber guy just isn’t very bright.

He might do well filming a scripted ad but he lost this debate with Matthews.

Actually, you're a "former active duty Marine" ... :)

You're still, and always will be a "Marine".

Or so it was explained to me by a former active duty Marine.

With the possible exception of Murtha, and a few of his ilk, there are no “Ex” Marines.

I am a proud veteran Marine....I am a “former Marine!”

Call me an “ex” and you’ll have a huge fight on your hands..

Whoa!!! My mistake. Thank you for your service.

The Pod people theory is actually believable, when it comes to those elected.

I found that out from another Marine here. My bad.

“I just hope that Rick Barber intends to do good on his word Republican a RINO hides that surfaces when the Republican occupies his new office.”
When they actually take office and start seeing all that money floating around via the Bankers who own this country the tend to be RINO”s
I am seeing more interesting people step up who seem to be for the Constitution but at the same time I know the bankers have the final say.You want sovereignty back? I suggest abolishing the Fed for starters. This nation did very well without a central bank and I believe the financial climate without it would be a much needed healthy dose of realism.

Good Grief.....did you watch the same ad we watched? Rick was caught terribly off-guard and unprepared. Matthews did not make an ass out of himself; he's always been an ass. Rick came across "uncertain" and did not explain the Fair Tax at all. It was 50 times worse than Sarah Palin's interview with Katie Couric that is still causing my girl, Sarah, to not be taken seriously by many who follow politics on a National level.
Get rid of the rose colored glasses p_r_s.

I hate to say it but “Chrissy the Sissy” made him look bad; very, very bad.

********************

Why do you say that? I did not think Barber killed Poofsuet but he held his own. Matthews came across to me as a vicious, about to come unglued wannabe commissar.

Poofsuet’s badgering, veiled threat harping on tax audits should tell everyone what the left aspires to bring to all of the “class enemies and kulaks” if they are not stomped.

Nevermind - I read your post at 28.

I just don’t think it was that bad. We just differ on this.

The ads meanwhile are sledgehammers, IMO.

I just want to note here that I didn’t have any ‘rose colored glasses’. I was pretty negative on this guy, since I thought his original ad was a bit much. I was impressed by what I saw in that video I posted. I thought he explained himself and the FairTax quite well against Matthews’ moronic questions.

CM had to ask the same questions over and over and never got a straight answer. It almost appeared that Barber didn’t understand [anything].

Near the beginning, talking about “illegal acts”, Barber didn’t follow what the ad was talking about and went off about potential personal problems politicians have had. He didn’t even know what he was talking about.

He also couldn’t say what tax percentage rate he would add to consumer spending. CM finally got 23% out of him and Barber couldn’t put it together that on top of a national sales tax there is local\state tax.

23% + 8% = 31%

It’s really not that hard but this guy seems to have no understanding of what taxes there already are. (3:14 in the video)

Start at 3:36 and check the answer. Uh... Barber needs to pay attention.

Start again at 4:17. He still didn’t answer the question.
He doesn’t know the answer but he wants to make this law.
He’s done no research beyond talking points and it’s obvious.

Start again at 5:35. Utter bull$hit. He still can’t explain anything and goes back to his talking points.

I just re-watched half the video and Barber just looks stupid with not answering questions and not knowing what he’s talking about. I’m done, it’s painful.

All he does is copy and paste buzz words and phrases in his head and sends it to his mouth.

Barber lost this debate and really looks bad. I wouldn’t vote for this guy because he obviously is in over his head.

Matthews did not make an ass of himself, if anything he tried to get answers from this guy so Barber could get his message out. Barber failed and you can see the frustration on CM’s face.

100 percent agree.

Its a shame too because we need guys with his passion in office. Not his idiocy

I may sometimes want to wring my uber lib, progressive brother’s neck over his politics, but there’s one thing I’ll never accuse him of, and that is being an ex-Marine.

As contradictory as it seems me, he is still proud of his service in the USMC. So am I.

Here’s what I saw:

Barber talked about tax evasion when it came to ‘illegal acts’ and that’s certainly an illegal act.

Matthews was idiotically trying to get Barber to add state/local sales taxes to the Fair Tax to get some kind of soundbite out of Barber and Barber didn’t bite. He defended his position quite well, IMHO.

I don’t agree with much of the rest of your characterization of the conversation. I think Barber answered those questions as well as they could be answered.

For the record, I think you might just see frustration on Chris Matthews’ face if he was debating a willow tree. This probably doesn’t change your opinion on Barber and may make you wish for a willow tree as a candidate instead, so YMMV.

But, being a Marine, Rick should have got in his face and said: “If you’ll shut your friggin’ mouth long enough, I’ll explain it you because you apparently are ignorant in the field of Economics and don’t know jack.” And then give him a lesson on The Fair Tax.

But, he didn’t.
