Violence in El Paso prompts letter to president

Violence spilling on to U.S. soil from the border of Mexico was a major reason for tougher immigration laws in Arizona. Now - with seven stray bullets striking the El Paso City Hall from the Mexican town of Juarez, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has written a letter to President Barack Obama demanding "action."

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - There were no injuries in the shootings, and was the likely result of Mexico's warring drug cartels. Abbott's letter, reprinted in the El Paso Times, read in part: "The time for talk has passed. The time for action is now. The need is urgent. Each day that passes increases the likelihood that an American life will be lost because of the federal government's failure to secure the border.

"This threat demands immediate and effective action by your Administration to secure our border. As the Attorney General of Texas, I urge you to make border security your top priority so that no more innocent lives are most to border violence."

The sound of gunfire emanating from the Mexican border is an all-too familiar sound to authorities in El Paso.

"Typically, agents hear gunshots south of the border but as far as an incident like this (City Hall shooting) -- no," Border Patrol spokesman Agent Ramiro Cordero said.

Hot pursuit, whatever legal fig leaf they need to legally justify an incursion and keep it in court for the rest of the Obama administrations brief and destructive stay.

I think I’m right when I say the governor can call out the NG and place them on the border. In fact, I and a co-writer wrote a screenplay about it. Sadly, couldn’t get anyone interested enough to even read it.

But I digress. The governor can call out the NG in the event of a hurricane. I think being invaded falls into the disaster category.

DHS officials meet skeptical reception at Aspen forum on state of U.S.-Mexico border

Published 2 July 2010

No, I'm sure they were quite aware that if anything Obama will wipe his shoes (that wasn't what I thought of first but I'm being polite) with the letter.

They do need to get on record that he was asked and ignored the request to do anything.

I don't think I'm the only person in Texas who believes that he strongly dislikes red states but hates Texas with a special passion. The likelihood of his doing anything to benefit Texas in any way is between extremely slim and none.

I get so sick of the out and out lying done by the 0dumbo admin and no one calls them on it

Bush was far from perfect. But did his admin spout so many clear lies?

0dumbo seldom speaks the truth, or verifiable facts.

Obama himself said the same thing [safer borders than ever]. Rush’s response was devasting, and along these lines:

Kidnapping Capital of the U.S.A. - ABC News
http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=6848672&page=1
Phoenix, Arizona has become the kidnapping capital of America, with more incidents than any other city in the world outside of Mexico City and over 370 cases last ...
