I don’t get it, either. I can totally understand Palin endorsing him. Same with Romney(wanting to bury the hatchet form 08 and get on his good side). Even Scott Brown(McCain supported him).
But NR has nothing to gain from this. He’s not running for the WH again so they don’t have to worry about running afoul of him. With his national ambitions over he nolonger matters to the natl media. If he does win he’ll just finish out his career as another Senator, no real power.
He won’t be in a leadership position if the GOP takes back the Senate(maybe chair of Armed Svcs) But other than a key voice on the military he’ll be largely irrelevant. McConnell, Cornyn and some of the other Southerners appear ready to run the show if they retale the majority. The younger faces like Rubio, Brown, Paul, Angle, Thune, Toomey, Fiorina, Kirk, etc... will get the media attention. And with the 2012 race starting soon after the election few will care about he Senate anyway.
So I don’t really see what they have to gain from this. If it’s meant as a thank you for the Surge and his support of it, they could have done that without an explicit endorsement.

This is a huge relief. Truly, I’m not entirely sure why anyone would care about an endorsement from NR. It is unfortunate that AZ has such lightweights on the conservative side, but that is simply my own opinion. They may do as they wish in that department.

Are those endorsing McCain doing so because they are supporters of him or are they anti-supporters of J.D. Hayworth? I don’t know, I’m just asking since I never see articles or threads posted hereabouts touting Hayworth. Seems to me if Hayworth is the “real deal” there would be more enthusiasm for him.
