With immigration reform attracting negligible Republican interest and seemingly going nowhere, President Obama laid out the case for action and what it would look like in a major speech at American University this morning. In doing so, Obama employed a familiar formula: identifying what the extreme left wants to do (straight-up amnesty), identifying what the extreme right wants to do (round up every illegal and kick them out), and then placing his vision for immigration reform squarely in the middle.

Slightly tainted? Putrid and rotten more like it.
“Stirring”? It was a disaster from the moment Obabamamarama opened his mouth.
The Left would have America think that Socialist Emma Lazarus’ poem is Federal Law. It is not.
It doesnt take *much* to get a typical PMSDNC DemboSlut
to start creaming her panties, does it?
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
There IS A DOOR!
The Democrats have been chanting this meaningless refrain for twenty years, with their adoring journalistic teeny-bopper fans singing along and screaming in approval.
Meanwhile every gangbanger, drug runner and islamaniac has been strolling across the border by the thousands daily for decades.
How about we close the border, then we can have a debate about what to do about those already on this side of the fence.
My “middle of the road solution”. Any illegal who has a job may surrender to ICE, receive a green card, SSS card, begin paying taxes, and become eligible for benefits under FICA. They may travel freely but need to carry and present green cards. They,as a consequence of arriving here illegalay, may NEVER attain citizenship, may never own a firearm, and will forfeit their status and be deported upon conviction of a felony. I’d welcome any comments.
The Obamaloon is a glittering jewel of colossal ignorance covered by human excrement.
Other than that, he is a fine man.
Stirring ... the only thing “stirring” was my breakfast
Stirring ... the only thing “stirring” was my breakfast
Not practical to round up illegals and deport them? Herbert Hoover did it. Harry truman did it. Dwight Eisenhower did it. Of course, their loyalty was to the American people.
The leftards, stung by listless “major speeches” of late by That One, are doing their level best to apply this narrative of a “stirring,” or “chilling” oration this time around.
Her poem and lady liberty are *art* whereas the Constitution is *law*. Too many ignore those facts.
I had the thought of securing the borders and creating a SINGLE port of entry into the country...Ellis Island.
The New Colossus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
Emma Lazarus, 1883
History of the poem
The poem was written as a donation to an auction of art and literary works [1] conducted by the “Art Loan Fund Exhibition in Aid of the Bartholdi Pedestal Fund for the Statue of Liberty”, the aim of which was to raise money for the pedestal’s construction [2] The contribution was solicited by fundraiser William Maxwell Evarts. Initially Lazarus refused, but Constance Cary Harrison convinced her that the statue would be of great significance to immigrants sailing into the harbor [3].
“The New Colossus” was the only entry read at the exhibit’s opening, but was forgotten and played no role at the opening of the statue in 1886. In 1901, Lazarus’s friend Georgina Schuyler began an effort to memorialize Lazarus and her poem, which succeeded in 1903 when a plaque bearing the text of the poem was mounted on the inner wall of the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty [2].
The line “Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” has read “Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!” on the plaque hanging inside the Statue of Liberty[4] since its unveiling in 1903.
“Obama employed a familiar formula: identifying what the extreme left wants to do (straight-up amnesty), identifying what the extreme right wants to do (round up every illegal and kick them out), and then placing his vision for immigration reform squarely in the middle.”
And then go with amnesty; but call it something else. That’s being in the middle.
Once upon a time America welcomed huddled masses
Now we are being overrun by muddled asses
Unemployment at 10 percent, the housing market collapsed, the stock market collapsing, the stimulus failing, our schools overflowing and broke, our prisons overflowing and broke, our hospitals overflowing and broke, and Obamao is making a passionate speech about opening the floodgates to the world’s socialists to boost his political chances. Hire a creep; get creepy politics.
